Diplomacy
Tiana (Or the FTSR) is relatively new here, and we have not yet established diplomatic relations with anyone on Micras yet. Im more used to using talk pages on MicroWiki for this. Is a lot of diplomacy done over MicrasWiki or though PMs? For the week or two that we've been part of this community, I think it's about time I start trying to make Micrasian allies.

Re: Diplomacy
Well Normark is certainly here to support a new nation!
But ja, diplomacy. Ummm, for the most part it is done publicly on the respective nation's forums. Seeing as you do not possess one, you can visit a nation's forums to begin negotiations of treaties and so forth. Only thing is, everything will have to be done on that forum. After a treaty is ratified, you can copy it to anywhere.

Re: Diplomacy
Yeah. As Einhorn said, most of us are used to having forums and conducting most of our micronationalism over that. Look for the Foreign Affairs/Ministry of the Exterior/equivalent subforum, and post in there.

Re: Diplomacy
Welcome to Micras!
The micras forums are generally used for general community discussions, projects, announcements, etc. that are easier to make with a single post than going nation to nation to nation to nation posting the same thing over and over and over again. If you want direct one-on-one interaction with a specific nation, it is best to do so on the respective national fora.

Re: Diplomacy
Yeah I don't think I've ever checked the talk page on the Nelaga article *checks it* and nobody has ever posted anything there. So. If you're looking for general diplomacy with Micras, this forum is probably the right place, or if you want relations with any particular nation you'd be best going to their forums. The hassle of every nation having their own seperate forum was one of the founding causes of the Bastion Union, which is an apolitical forum sharing currently hosting four major Micras nations with two more likely on the way in within a week or two.

Re: Diplomacy
I would add that a lot of countries on Micras do diplomacy differently than on MicroWiki. Going up to someone and asking "Will you be my ally?" will generally result in a puzzled stare. Instead, we try to base our relationships on people in two communities knowing each other really well and having similar interests and plans. That having been said, there are some people who are into the treaty route, and if you check their foreign ministries you'll probably be able to figure out who they are.

Re: Diplomacy
You can basically get a good guess at the age of a micronation depending on how they approach their diplomacy.
Standard treaties of non-aggression and mutual recognition have been abandoned by many nations as they mean very little and are simply tedious to conduct. The general rule of thumb seems to be that unless a nation has actually made belligerent diplomatic statements against you or has declared they don't recognise your existence (bit of an oxymoron I know but it has happened), then they're OK with you.
One problem with those Treaties was also that many younger, newer nations desperate for recognition interpreted them as being military alliances when they were nothing of the sort.
True micronational alliances, as Scott said, grow organically as a result of a natural friendship- signing up to an alliance in the hope that eventually a close relationship will develop which will then justify that alliance makes very little sense.
In that vein the most constructive thing you can do now to gain friends around Micras is simply to visit other nations' forums and get to know their communities informally and see what they're all about.
