Nation n. - A relatively large group of people organized under a single, usually independent government; a country.

Our nations fit this bill quite nicely. Each of our micronations are a group of people organized under a single, independent government. We enjoy a great deal of autonomy, much more than "territorial" micronations do, as the people who're pompous enough to claim real land have to obey the laws in their host nation, HARDLY independent ;). Our governments are simulated but independent of our countries of origin, we fit the bill much better than any "territorial" micronation.

Because we run small (micro) countries (nations). Seeing as "micronation" is a made-up word, there's no dictionary definition and most definitions made within the hobby don't say "micronations" must claim a miniscule part of a real country's land in order to be considered "micronations". Simply, we self-associate with being "micronationalists", that's how :P

Parker. GET OVER IT! He was banned for throwing away FIVE chances.

I am one of the few OAM members who do agree that Micras IS micronationalism. Part of my VSG campaign is to encourage better communication between Micras and the OAM, so that the non-believers can see BOTH sides of the argument.

Off topic much?

Anyway, I am on the fence somewhat on the micras issue. I don't really think that they are micronations, but they are definitely some form of nation. I would classify them as, perhaps, a geofictional virtual states.

Would you classify the geofictional Roleplay project realm (http://realmroleplay.forumotion.com) as micronationalism, simply if we decided to declare ourselves micronationalists? I wouldn't. But maybe that's just my opinion.
EDIT: Sorry for double posting. I'm used to MicroWiki's merge feature :P

I've never been pointed in their direction before, so I'd have to have a proper look at what they do before judging :)

That makes sense. Despite being referred to as "pompous", I appreciate this explanation. Thank you.

If it isn't pompous, it is certainly rather silly, as you cannot do anything with it. At least nothing that isn't legal within the confines of the host nation. Although our land is basically a collection of pixels (which we all readily admit), we can at least write about, illustrate and describe the development of land, cities and so on. We function almost (if not exactly) the same way as any territorial micronation, we just exchange real land for the unlimited flexibility of fictional land. Otherwise there is no difference, except for perhaps the forum part. We have ministries, heads of states, Kings, Queens, Prime Ministers and so on. We meet, we discuss and so on, we just do it on a forum and use fictional land.

I have changed my mind. You are a micronationalist, too. Thank you again for your well-thought explanations.

Well I am certainly glad you've changed your mind lol. You're more than welcome here providing you keep an open mind, although considering what just took place, that isn't an issue. I wish more territorial micronationalists were like you, in that you're open minded and willing to see things from different angles.

Even then, the majority of micronations that claim real-world land have a forum of sorts :)

Ah, no, that is actually my real life accent, courtesy of my education. It's how I speak in everyday conversation.

No, there are a few vowel sounds in there that are much more plain. And I've never met anyone your age who speaks like that.
