Administrators and moderators

Re: Administrators and moderators
I suddenly realize that I've been a keyboard all along! And I'm not touching the other part of Craitman's...... idea.
In any event,
In any event,
If the hub rebranding goes as planned, and it's showing every sign of doing so with now two outside communities focusing their interactions with Micras on these forums, then minor conflict is to be expected every now and then. Being a moderator isn't all locking and banning - it's moderating in the normal sense of the word, ie trying to keep the peace. Atmosphere is something that should be actively worried about. If we get a reputation for being vile and unfriendly then we will never succeed as a hub. That doesn't mean mods need to enforce ettiquite laws with a vengence, but if people are getting out of control, someone with actual authority reminding them to calm down should step in.Einhorn wrote:Well to be honest, unless we have another George incident (and I sincerely hope we do NOT), moderators won't need to be ever-present and vigilant.
Re: Administrators and moderators
I certainly see the logic in that, I just feel that there might be someone on there who might indeed enforce etiquette laws with an iron fist or just over zealous in general (we've seen evidence to suggest so).

Re: Administrators and moderators
Does anyone else have any further comments to add? Any objections or general endorsements would be useful, as we are trying to establish consensus.

If you want endorsements:
Endorse. Not to say the others aren't necessarily suited too, but top three seemed a better thing to endorse instead of endorsing everyone.Potential administrators

Craitman
Potential moderators

If by Scott you mean Cairney, then he's now interested in being a moderator - just updated the list.

Re: Administrators and moderators
I'm flattered, but I don't think I would have much to add as an administrator of this community.

Re: Administrators and moderators
I knew whichever one I guessed it would turn out to be the other I assumed it wasn't you because you weren't on the list at all, but ofc you'd be welcome to show an interest if you wanted!

Re: Administrators and moderators
Potential administrators
Dr-Spangle - endorsed by Andreas, Scott & CJ
Guido Zambelis - endorsed by Andreas & Scott
Pawel - not endorsed
Craitman - endorsed by Andreas, Scott & CJ
Scott - proposed by CJ but apparently declined
Potential moderators
Ryan - endorsed by Andreas, Scott & CJ
Chris - endorsed by Andreas & Scott
CJ - objected to by Nick, self-endorsed
Harvey - endorsed by Andreas, Scott & CJ
So far the only objection has been to having CJ as a moderator, and Andreas did not endorse Pawel or CJ. Scott seconded Andreas' list. CJ endorsed, as an admin, Scott (but Scott appears to have declined) and did not endorse Pawel or myself. He did not endorse Chris as a moderator.
Further input really would be welcomed, but as this has now been running for twenty days we should try to wrap things up sooner rather than later.

Re: Administrators and moderators
Honestly I don't see the whole point to this endorsement thing as it's been essentially everyone who has been nominated endorsing each other. Endorsement or not, people are going to be judged more true-to-character by their actions when they assume their respective roles. I don't feel that these lists are something that is to be set in stone, but something that we can review on an annual (or even more frequent) basis and determine who is doing a good job, who is not, and what we can all do to improve.
