Who wants to help me start my new micronation?
Hey my name is Spencer I've been playing around with the idea of starting a micronation and I've decided to actually make it happen. I want this to be a serious country with actual territory for a population to reside etc. To achieve this I've decided to start up an indiegogo project. For those of you who don't know what that is it is a crowd funding platform for people to raise money for projects. I am currently doing this on my own and that is why I am here on these forums. If anyone would be interested in helping me start this thing up I would be greatly appreciated.
The nation we will be starting will be located on a 607 acre plot of land in Maine. It will be called the Republic of New Acadia referring to the name that was originally given to that region of the US by the French when they settled it hundreds of years ago. The government will be run by a committee, a president, and some advisers. The president and his advisors will have the final say in some things but for the most part they will put forward issues for the committees to vote on. The committees will be made up of every adult citizen who wishes to participate. Everyone will have an equal vote regardless of race, sex, religion, sexual preference, etc.
I also want this nation to be as self sustaining as possible and earth friendly. Meaning that we will run off of green energy as much as possible by using wind or solar power, or any other alternative we can come up with.
I am open to any new ideas and suggestions and will gladly let any one who is serious about joining this project do so. Also once the project is published on indiegogo if anyone wants to help spread the word or even contribute funding wise that'd be great!

I'm always somewhat weary towards earth-based micronations with a 'real' claim. Especially when they take the form of a hippy commune. But good luck with your project anyways.

Jingdao owns Sweden and has allowed the king to continue his rule as a vassal of the Heavenly Light, so far he hasn't fucked up. Maybe you could find a similar settlement with the president?

Asking virtual noblemen for funds for a cause which may or may not exist is never a productive use of time, especially if the username has numbers in it. Good luck though.

Of course, you're always welcome to join us as well.

Haha I wasn't necessarily aiming for a hippie community just something self sustaining and green! I've been thinking and I think starting a micronation with an actual territory will be alot harder to start than I thought but Ryker I'd love to get involved in the micronational community and maybe even join one but I wouldn't really know where to start. Do you have any tips or know of any good micronations to get involved with?

I read about this place on a blog during one of my random search explosions three months ago. While it is tough to learn some basic laws and understand the lingo and culture (which has been developing for well over a decade), it's pretty easy afterwards. Just signup, know your nation, and put yourself out there; it really is that simple. There are some grammar-Nazis (myself on occasion) and some members like to make an argument for fun (*cough* Carl *cough*) but it's usually quite friendly.Naylor77 wrote:Haha I wasn't necessarily aiming for a hippie community just something self sustaining and green! My suggestions for citizenship:
If you like to be able to be active any time and get a rather speedy response and enjoy having a variety of choices in culture, I'd go with Shireroth (I did, actually).
If you like speaking Dutch, apply for Jingdao or Batavia.
If want to be part of something brand-new, choose the Brettish Isles.
If you're into viking-babes and Futhark, settle down in Stormark.
And if you want to do your own thing, then apply for official recognition of your very own nation (this one is like starting a new business with no employees in a monopolized industry but miracles happen).
If you ever catch yourself in Shireroth, PM me and I'll be happy to help.

If you want to joing Jingdao your command of the Dutch language is not the most important thing, you should be completely pure in your complete submission to the Heavenly Light.
