No problem. Let's brush this under the carpet and forget about it.
Yet, I want to explain what seems to be annoying you so much. No military commander, when facing the odds that are stacked against me, decides to advertise their position. That is why I am relying on moving secretly and misdirection. That is why I am aiming to attack from outside radar range and do hit and runs. It may infuriate you but its not supposed to win me friends amongst my opponents in this recwar; its supposed to keep me in it.
And Andreas, if I'd done the guerilla thing there'd be even more murder. Would you like to have seen me in various nations' capitals running bombing campaigns and terrorist atrocities? I think not!

Case Name: Illegal sailing?
Case Brief: Either sailed through an ice cap with a non-ice breaker ship, or sailed around a continent WAY too quickly.
Evidence:
Or if you used the subs to go under the ice by Cride, that's a LOT of ice to be going under. It's a good 20 pixels into the ice cap, but i'm not sure how thick the ice is, therefore how far under you'd have to go. This would be a lot more believable, depending on the ice's thickness and the temperatures (would it be cold enough to freeze computers, motots, etc.?).
THEN: if you did get into the Toki/Nova bay legitimately, there's the issue of the whirlpool that takes up most of it. It may not sink you, but it would easily throw you off course (considering its size), may crush you (since you're near the bottom of it anyway, that's the point of being in a sub), would slaughter any missiles/rockets you tried to fire out of it, would flip you over and around if you tried to surface, etc. There's a LOT of things that could go wrong once you throw a whirlpool into this equation.

Evidence:
If you sailed from the waters where you attacked toketi, around bosworth, around sheiroth, around novatainia, past Cride (in Toketi), and finally into the bay to launch the missiles, that would take longer than this war has been going on. That is a trip of well over a thousand pixels (over 7,000 miles).extreme007 wrote:Bringing Down the Giant
Somewhere in the waters
All was the quiet in the open waters. The sea was clam, the wind was a steady slow breeze, and the two fishermen were sitting quietly in their small wooden sail boat. It was a total opposite of the nightmare on other side of the world, where a city now lay in ashes and ruble. The Omen and her mercenary force was giving hell of an unbelievable scale to her enemies. And here, in this part of the world, no one was expecting trouble, even though there were battles raging in the oceans nearby. But that was still a far distance from these waters. Or so they thought.
The fishermen suddenly started feeling vibrations coming from underneath their boat. At first, it was faint, but had a strong noise burst. Then the vibration grew, and it grew at a tremendous rate. The two fishermen looked into the waters, having abandoned their fishing post. The dark blue water suddenly became white and then hardly in a fraction of second, it popped out of water, capsizing the boat and the two fishermen.
A refinery
No one knew what happened or what went wrong. The refinery experienced a huge explosion, and then suddenly everything else began exploding as the first explosion caused a chain reaction. That was all that was going through the electrical engineer's mind as he lay on the floor. His body burned, and pieces of shrapnel tearing his stomach open. He could still feel them in his guts. But it didn't matter to him. He was still puzzled what caused the explosion. As his eye sights began to fade, he caught a glimpse of a flying object, as it headed towards the direction of the commercial seaport.
X-200
The submarine moved into position for the last salvo of her Tomahawks. She had already fired thirty six missiles already and all of them were packed with lethal ammunition, designed for these targets.
"Captain, last missile away."
The information wasn't really necessary. The shaking and ratling of the submarine was more than enough proof of the release of the missile. But these were the standing procedures in place and they had to be obeyed.
"So, gentlemen", started the captain to all the officers on the bridge of the X-200, "with the last missiles gone, and some of our missiles aimed at the enemy ships who are most likely and closest to come after us, its quite safe to say that we are going to be safe for some time."
He waited for smiles to appear on the crew's faces. But none came and the captain wasn't surprised, though he secretly hoped for it. X-200 had fired nearly all its inventory of weapons. Now, if they had to defend themselves, they were down to a pair of torpedoes and the guns on board.
"Let's get out of here now."
"Where to Captain?" asked the second-in-command.
"Here, " as he put his index finger on the map nearby, "tenders are waiting for us."
City Center
The people walked as if it was any other day of the year. There was war going on in the other parts of the world, but here business was usual. The bustling busy city noise suddenly had a new tone to it, one that was usually made by an aircraft as it flew below the speed of sound. But this one was different. Faces began looking up one by one. Eyes began widening as they realized they were staring at a missile. The first thought in their mind probably went along the lines of, "oh dear. war is upon us". Then a scream. From a person this time. A young woman, who was both good looking and quick-thinking. She was the first to see what no one else saw before her. The missiles were headed for The Spire!
The city center stands with many important buildings, but none as magnificent as "The spire", an insanely tall pillar of steel and glass that stretches to the heavens. It is the dead center of the city, and contains on its multitude of floors the many government buildings from which Novatainia is run. The Courts and department of Justice are near ground floor, and progressing up the magnificent tower are the department of defense offices, the senate and parliamentary offices, and at the very tip of the spire, taking an entire floor, is the palace. Its grand vaulted ceiling adds to the spires height, and on all four sides hangs Novatarian banners. Impressive.
Fifteen missiles. One tall target. Impressive indeed.
Summary:
Novatica
1 Tomahawk aimed at the electrical power facility.
15 Tomahawks aimed at The Spire. 4 with fuel air explosive submunitions (to blow when near the center of the building, so as to explode and create massive heat and temperature rise on the steel frames). 4 aimed to hit the palace/building by flying through the banners each (i don't know how long the banners are and if these are hanging on the palace or the building side. the point is to symbolize the blowing up of the banner.. or making it catch on fire before it gets blown up)
St. Nova
1 Tomahawk aimed at electrical power facility
4 tomahawks, with fuel air explosive sub munitions, aimed at refineries (if you don't have refineries, consider factories).
5 Tomahawks, with fuel air explosive sub munitions, aimed at factories.
5 Tomahawks, with BLU-77 anti-material / anti-personnel sub munitions, aimed at shipyard.
Gideon's Landing
5 Tomahawks aimed at headquarters and barracks.
5 Harpoons aimed at ships (if you don't have ships, then consider these as Tomahawks and aimed at more military structures and barracks. I say consider because I would have known if there are ships or not, by a simply peek from satellite at your port).
X-200 submarine is leaving the waters near Novatainia. Destination to be PMed to judges.
EDIT:
The missiles hitting the spire are obviously aimed in order to bring down the entire building. Say the building has 100 floors, 3 aimed at floors from 10 to 13, 3 aimed at floors from 34 to 37, 3 aimed at floors from 62 to 66 (perhaps a room 666), 2 aimed at floors 85 to 89. And then the remaining 4 at the banners on the top, which in this particular case, i am assuming is somewhere higher than 100 floors. If the banners are hanging around the 90+ floors, then move the other missiles striking lower by about 5 to 10 floors. Basically, the point being to bring down the building.

As far as I know, Micras was based around Earth. That means, the North pole of Micras is like the Arctic region. And submarines can easily go underneath it. There are probably a few (American and Russian) submarines out under the Arctic right now as we speak.Or if you used the subs to go under the ice by Cride, that's a LOT of ice to be going under. It's a good 20 pixels into the ice cap, but i'm not sure how thick the ice is, therefore how far under you'd have to go. And I have waited for a long time before making this move, so distance/speed issues aren't a case here. Unless off course, if I am making a 7000 pixel journey, which I am not.
Where the hell did this whirlpool come from? Are you telling me that whirlpools surround the entire Novatainia region? That Novatainia has built two large shipyard (one commercial, one military) in such a place that they can't even get their ships out of there lest they want to get destroyed by this so called whirlpool? Interesting.... Impressive.THEN: if you did get into the Toki/Nova bay legitimately, there's the issue of the whirlpool that takes up most of it. Re: extreme007
Andreas' post in the main thread:
For someone like Chris, who might be keeping track of my missiles, this particular submarine is now running on empty. Well, nearly enough. And is now headed off for replenishment, as has been mentioned in my post.
Firing all 154 missiles at once would nearly sink the ship or destroy it, because of the sudden pressure changes.
Secondly, I am not sure what is the bay of rizack. But, wherever it is, i wouldn't need to change angles to fire at different targets. I could just sit in one position, fire my missiles, and then leave (which is what i did). The missiles could be pre-programmed to fly a certain path before hitting the target. So, if I were in Germany, and i fired a missile in france's direction, i could still hit a target in Britain. If I fired in Russia's direction or Turkey's direction, I could still get it to hit the same target in Britain.
That being said, I fired in waves of 8. I fired around 40 missiles. Nearly two waves at Novatica, 1 wave at Gideon's landing and another 2 waves at St. Nova. Say, I fire the 2 waves at St. Nova first, then at Gideon's landing and finally the last two at Novatica. That means that by the time the missiles heading for St. Nova reach it, the other missiles are either hitting their targets (Gideon's landing) or just about to hit (Novatica) due to the distances in middle. Thus, roughly, all the missiles are hitting at about the same time. Maybe a maximum separation of 5 to 10 minutes between the first of the 40 missiles hitting and the last.
So, reconsider your damages. (And curse ye, for making me use the WTC as an example to show you what sort of damages to give!)
Now, you say that "its appears to be destroyed" or "legally destroyed". Does that mean "Those buildings are now ruble" , "those ships are destroyed." etc... ?
"Oh, Novatainia doesn't exist. Didn't you read that in the post on the 23rd page of a thread under the tenth sub forum of the eleventh forum of our seventh category of the third board ?"
Yes. One submarine, that I had prior to his attack moved away from the rest of the fleet. This is the same submarine that fired the 8 torpedoes at Din Arran's carrier off Skoitomashu or some where in those waters North of Toketi.OOC: So this is *one* submarine (that you decided wasn't necessary for your battle with North, apparently), firing *all* those missiles?
For someone like Chris, who might be keeping track of my missiles, this particular submarine is now running on empty. Well, nearly enough. And is now headed off for replenishment, as has been mentioned in my post.
It is that way, but it can't fire all of them at once. 22 in a volley sounds about right, though there are 4 torpedo doors as well. So, 26?*checks Orbat*
Oh, it apparently has 154 ... And you have costed it at 1600, which is appropriate for the extra missiles I guess. How many can it launch in one volley? *checks Wikipedia*
Fire 154 missiles AT ONCE? That can't be right ... (or if it is, that unit is way overpowered).
Firing all 154 missiles at once would nearly sink the ship or destroy it, because of the sudden pressure changes.
First of all, I just wanted to post about the fishermen to show that it was a submarine attack.because if you saw fishermen, you were in the Bay of Rizack, and would have needed to change angles slightly to fire at different targets.
If I fired in Russia's direction or Turkey's direction, I could still get it to hit the same target in Britain.
I am not firing from a visible distance from the beach or any land, for that matter. It was a submarine attack, meaning until it came out of the sea, you would have had no idea of an inbound attack. Secondly, the missiles were on low level flights, meaning it would go under the radar. And by the time the alarms in the cities go off to warn of the attack, most (if not all) of the missiles should have already hit the targets ! Its not like the guy who hits the alarm button saw the strikes himself. There must be a chain of communication from the observer to the alarm hitter. And if this chain is even a 1 minute or 2 long (and i highly doubt any free society, even the Americans, during war time can achieve that), that means the missiles have traveled much closer to their targets. The alarm goes off, and then it would require quite a bit of time to get those people to safety. Within that time, I think the missiles would have easily hit the target. If these missiles were of a comedic nature, they would probably before hitting the target, drink a cup of coffee, watch some tv, dance with each other, and then hit the target. And then I'd still think that some people wouldn't have made it safely. The firing of missiles was obviously noticed and nearby cities instantly warned, due to standard Novatainian paranoia. Citizens in Novatica were already making their way into bunkers as the secondary missiles launched, as were the personnel at Gideon's Landing, aware that diplomatic conventions did not allow any armed response.
As mentioned above, doubt that happened. Unless this Spire building is 2 or 5 stories tall, I don't think many workers got off. take the WTC for example. That building stood for quite a long while even after getting hit. It had only 1 point of explosion and 1 aircraft, yet the casualties were in thousands. Most couldn't get out. The Spire on the other hand had multiple points of explosions and multiple missiles at them. And its freaking more tall, meaning it takes more time for those on the top to get the elevator and get out. Worst, due to the restricted number of elevators (and i doubt people want to take the stairs!), not all of the people can escape at once. Most of the workers in it appear to have successfully evacuated and so appear to suffer minor casualties.
So, reconsider your damages. (And curse ye, for making me use the WTC as an example to show you what sort of damages to give!)
If the Spire on top of this bunker is falling, that's a massive load falling. No matter how strong you built the bunkers, its gonna get a hell of a pounding! I think it might be safe to say that this bunker, or at least parts of the elaborate bunker network underneath the Spire, has been crushed. In the bunkers under The Spire (which probably has the most elaborate bunkers in all of Novatainia),
Now, you say that "its appears to be destroyed" or "legally destroyed". Does that mean "Those buildings are now ruble" , "those ships are destroyed." etc... ?
I'll refer you to Ardy's response:You're a mercenary. You can't/don't have satellites. And certainly not ones in micro-synchronous orbit over Novatainia. Believe me, if you did, they would have been shot down by the Pink SAMIN by now.
He would have access to ours.
I only read the city descriptions. I am not going to bother myself with reading all the threads in all of Novatainia to figure out what's going on with Captain Jack Sparrow and his Majestic ship. What next? You are welcome to target the part of the building where the banners were originally located. However, if you'd done your research fully you'd have known the banners were stolen some time ago, and now belong to Nicholas the Mad, and are currently located in his shop in Paribia. I'm assuming you'd prefer not to relocate your attack to the banners.

Re: extreme007
Ignore the whirlpool. It's only in the centre.
My points about the submarines firing in volleys was merely that there would be some time between volleys to allow a chance for the later civilians to begin evacuation.
Low flight. You make me laugh, Extreme. There's a mountain range between St Nova and Novatica. Those missiles at least would have been higher. And if you have satellites (if it was any nation other than Babkha I'd consider that an act of war), then we have our Pink SAMIN, which can find your initial missiles fine. There's no fighting *in this war* up there. In CITRA, two regions in nearby Toketi have either just been through fighting or are being fought over now. Our satellites are on the lookout for missiles. We're paranoid.
No, I didn't expect you to have found that out. That's why I pointed it out and said you probably wouldn't want to relocate your attack. But you did mention them so carefully in your strike and probably would have been hurt if I hadn't mentioned them dramatically burning, as would have been appropriate had they been there.

I am impressed. You managed to learn about Norrington (not Sparrow) and the GCS Majestic... but he's only posted about twice in the last 6 months. As I already posted, I stole those banners. And we weren't trying to be losers and force you to target my shop just because the banners were there. We were merely informing you of a coincidence.

True. But, do all your cities go on alert when one city is attacked? Cause i doubt the difference is going to be significant enough to save a large number of lives. Especially when the targets are yet unknown, and whether or not a given city is going to be targeted. My points about the submarines firing in volleys was merely that there would be some time between volleys to allow a chance for the later civilians to begin evacuation.
Low flight is still possible over mountain ranges. All low flight means is that it is flying low over the ground. Just youtube some videos saying "low flight" or think of some war movies you have seen with the action taking place in mountains. Its low flight usually. Think the height of helicopters flying through the mountains.Low flight. You make me laugh, Extreme. There's a mountain range between St Nova and Novatica. Those missiles at least would have been higher.
It doesn't matter if Mount Everest lies between St. Nova and Novatica. The missile would just fly towards the mountain, maintaining a rough height over the land, and then as the mountain shape starts forming (height over land starts decreasing), the missile would start to climb in order to maintain the height over the land. That's basic computing actually.
Um.. you are in war. If I said, Shireroth satellites or any of the other nation that is on my side, then its still valid !if it was any nation other than Babkha I'd consider that an act of war
That does sound much more realistic. If you prefer, I'll reword that as "Some of the workers appear to have successfully evacuated. Casualties are indeterminate at this point."
Didn't know that. Just how strong is this bunker underneath the Spire? The whole building is coming down, and it is still standing strong.I think you misunderstand Novatainian paranoia and the fact that this particular area of the city has been destroyed once already (save the Spire itself).
I understand that you were only informing me. At the point when I was reading that the banners got stolen, I was thinking to myself, "great. we are already going to ask nations to post city descriptions. now we have to read the rest of the stuff as well?" And thus, I answered with half a mind in the direction of improving Anunia (which btw, I do not think we should include).I am impressed. You managed to learn about Norrington (not Sparrow) and the GCS Majestic... but he's only posted about twice in the last 6 months. As I already posted, I stole those banners. And yes, I knew it was Norrington and not Sparrow. I was just glancing through the pages, trying to see any 'cool' / 'interesting' targets and noticed some thefts occurring. I think i saw something about a ship getting stolen by 2 people!
If you think a missile launch from somewhere near Baja, Mexico is going to be detected by NORAD and then informed to all the cities to alert, anywhere before the missile strikes San Diego, good luck being safe!Sure we could. We have NORAD.
LOL...yeah right if missiles were coming at the US we would just go and loot the nearest store.
then after impact shoot at rescue workers...

I'm starting to wonder why you're arguing so much about this attack. I know why I'm arguing - they're my civilians and shouldn't be attacked. But I'm not sure why you are, since to you killing civilians seems to mean nothing much, you know you won't get an extra person entering just to fight you anymore, and you're going onto the real warzone anyway. What does it matter to you personally if one or ten people die?
For the cities - I said nearby ones in my post. For your future info, after disputes in Toketi about city descriptions and stuff I've prepared an updated defence post (which I have pm'd Montague for his opinion, ironically) which includes all cities going on instant alert. You guys keep attacking defenceless civilians, so we need to have instaneous defences I haven't posted it publicly because I know that would be inappropriate for the current war. But I don't see why our capital, second biggest city and main naval base shouldn't have decent detection and evacuation equipment, considering the attacks in previous wars, in CITRA St Nova's and Novatica are the two places that have costed communications arrays) and since it's civilian backstory stuff.
Ok, sorry, I misunderstood the meaning of low flight in that regard. Meh, we would have been using satellite not radar so it doesn't matter.

Did you listen to the bit where I said "so the satellite has entered micro-synchronous orbit over Novatainian land"? The sort of satellite capable of spying well enough to find ships in a harbour would have to be in micro-synchronous orbit, I've been assured by people who know more about this than I do. Hence the Babkhan satellite could be considered an act of war, as Babkha isn't officially in the war. Ask Ardy or Scott about the invasion of Diana in the War of Gascon Liberation or whatever it's called now.Um.. you are in war. If I said, Shireroth satellites or any of the other nation that is on my side, then its still valid !
Well, in our currently existing defences main tunnels under cities are reinforced to withstand nuclear blasts. So though it's not specified, I would consider any defence under the Spire to be stronger than that. Also, see point 1.Didn't know that. Just how strong is this bunker underneath the Spire?

Re: extreme007
It looks good on news. I am trying my hardest to become a more badass evil dude than Ardashir.I'm starting to wonder why you're arguing so much about this attack.
Just so you know, satellites can't detect me firing my missiles at you from my submarine. That's the whole point of ICBMs on submarines. You could go anywhere and launch it without getting detected right away. Plus, firing ICBMs and firing cruise missiles is totally different things.Meh, we would have been using satellite not radar so it doesn't matter.
Though I could be wrong on this. Feel free to correct me anyone.
Not really. I am assuming that micro-synchronous orbit is equivalent of geo-synchronous. And no, its not required. All geosynchronous orbit provides is that you have constant surveillance of a specific point. So, its like putting the cameras on satellite at the superbowl and watching it live via satellite (literally). The sort of satellite capable of spying well enough to find ships in a harbour would have to be in micro-synchronous orbit, I've been assured by people who know more about this than I do.
Many spy satellites, simply go over the entire world. Polar orbit or something its called. These orbits are normally used in movies, and you see their paths curving and criss-crossing the earth several times on a giant screen. When it happens to run over a target city, the camera opens up and takes a picture. And then the satellite moves on. So, it takes a picture of the harbour for instance, using whatever particular resolution and scanning mechanism (like IR photo) required.
If a ship shows off, in a given picture, a lot of heat, then that means its getting ready to sail off or something. If a ship that was present in one spot on the first picture, but is missing from the next picture (taken next day or whenever), then that means its obviously out to sea.
Also, if a satellite appears in geo-synchronous orbit over any nation, it is not considered an act of war. How many geo-synchronous satellites are there over the earth? Forget geo-synchronous, there are thousands of satellites up there (there's a cool add-on for GoogleEarth, that shows you all the satellites). You dont see nations complaining and launch wars as a result do you? The russians and americans probably have several satellites in geosynchronous orbit over each other, but they haven't declared wars over it!
Again, most of this is totally unrelated to this war. Just offering my cents. And as always, you are more than welcome to totally shred my points to pieces (ie, feel free to correct me if i am wrong).

Oh, so you want to look like utter despicableness incarnate. Oh, well, you're going the right way about it then.
As for the satellite - zooming over Novatainian land occasionally, sure. But zooming right on top of one of our key military bases in a time of war ... pushing diplomacy a bit

hahahaha.. if killing your citizens makes me look like utter despicableness incarnate with cowardly boldness intent of killing unarmed people etc.. etc... then the above quote suggest you to be .. well for lack of better longer words, extremely paranoid about wars and are eager to get into one.But zooming right on top of one of our key military bases in a time of war ... pushing diplomacy a bit
hell, just for that, i might throw up a satellite in geo-synchronous orbit and stare down Novatainia's bases.
btw, another note: when it says geo-syncrhonous orbit, it doesn't mean that its directly above Novatainia. It means its above the equator. If my nation had territory on the equator, i could put it directly above my territory, but pointed at another nation in northern/southern hemisphere.

You can be in micro-synchronous orbit and not be above the equator.
Besides, its Babkha. Who isn't paranoid about Babkha now and then
