And I've only ever played it once. Even Scott's played it more than me ...
Now, time to drop the topic and get back to dealing with that renegade city destroying laser carrying ship ...

Re: extreme007
Extreme, can we please have specifics as to what units went where? The way I'm reading it. everything seems to be aimed at Praygulinia. you said several other cities were hit, but you didn't say with what... And is there anything left at Yaskhona?

Re: extreme007
oh the things that got hit were from previous attack. no one replied to them, so i gave the damages out.
1. nothing is at Yaskhona. all my units there were destroyed in the attack.
2. all the forces mentioned are headed to Praygulinia.
3. most of my fighters are providing air cover against any potential aircrafts you send in.
All the points mentioned above, should not be known to Din Arran, the character in the story. That's because he is on board his carrier somewhere, and unless he gets this kind of information from some where, he wouldn't know anything of this.
In case you didn't understand, think about it this way:
you post saying, "Having blown the entirety of the french navy, Din Arran, the famous Russian leader, launched an attack against the german fleet near Berlin. He ordered his submarines to go near Berlin. Because they were too far and had to make up the distance, the captains had decided to provide full power to the engines and in doing so sacrificed their sonar systems. They were going to be vulnerable to enemy attacks till they reached near Berlin. After which, they would return the power settings back to normal and get their sonar systems back on line."
I post saying "The British navy, under the command of Extreme, quickly set sailed from Berlin towards the French border in order to intercept the russian submarine fleet before it got to Berlin.
A few hours later, the British ship Vanguard, spotted the russian submarine fleet. Luckily, the enemy sonar was not working and the british fleet moved in for the kill. They fired ten torpedoes at the first two submarines. The rest of the british fleet then fired ten more torpedoes at the remaining russian submarines."
My response should not be allowed because this is technically not possible for a few reasons:
1. There is no way for me to know that your submarine fleet was headed for Berlin. So, I couldn't possibly move closer to you in order to gain an advantage. My character, extreme, would not know that your fleet was moving towards Berlin, even though me - the real person - knows it.
2. Again, my character would not know that your sonar systems aren't working and thus go into battle knowing they were not detected. Again, the real me knows it.
Do you see the difference between the character me and the real me ?
For your side, your character Din Arran wouldn't know that the british fleet was moving from Berlin and going to intercept you. So, you couldn't reply saying, "my fleet stops. turns on the sonar. spots the british fleet!" because your character isn't aware of my ships headed your way. The real you knows that however.
I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. In our war situation, your character does not know that those helicopters and aircrafts are headed to Praygulinia. In fact, he doesn't even know that my aircrafts are flying even, or if I have run away or whatever. Similarly, your character does not know about the damages at Yaskhona. He doesn't know that all my units are destroyed.
In case you knew about all of this stuff that i mentioned, then sorry, ignore me. I just thought you were new to this.

But Extreme, that is entirely the point of secret moves. It is assumed if something is posted publicly everyone knows it, unless something specific happens to someone and they lose all communications.

Re: extreme007
Well, Nick ... Extreme does have the point of the difference between IC and OOC knowledge. England certainly wouldn't know the subs had their sonar off for that time. But general movements of large armies are generally considered too hard to hide and so you can know roughly the direction they're heading (and guess) ... unless, of course, all your units are holed up in the middle of nowhere with no radio access ...

Not necessarily. For instance, my posting of orders of a general electronic blackout for the fleet is not known by opposite commanders. Discussions my characters have in private are not known by your characters are they?Nicholas the Mad wrote:But Extreme, that is entirely the point of secret moves.
