Re: Starting Locations
Sorry, wasn't sure where you'd ended up at the start of the war.

Re: Starting Locations
I actually started at Home
How come a large proportion of Novatainian forces are starting in Nelaga? The whole situation regarding Novatainian sovereignty over the isles has confused me actually so I can understand that Novatainian forces can be there when they own the islands but that doesn't much up with backstory where there was a small garrison. If forces havent been moved somewhere in backstory and the backstory might contradict force starting locations, what do we do there?
I know its a very odd thing for a judge to ask, but Andreas you did draw up the Convention and I'd like for some guidance on that because backstory is not in the Official War Thread and therefore I'm unsure as to the truth and canonicity (actual word or not?) regarding Backstory.

Re: Starting Locations
I assumed that all the backstory in the 'Day of the Eagle' thread was canon for pre-war preparations. In it it was clearly stated a portion of the Novatainian defence force was moved to Nelaga. It also talked about Novatainian Navy coming down later with commander Mel'Kat. I'd assumed, when writing that, that that was enough for us all to be there. I do recall pre-war preparations for starting locations appearing somewhere in the Charter as valid ... I'll look it up.Lord_Montague wrote:I actually started at Home

Re: Starting Locations
Having checked it carefully, I can't find the section I was thinking of. I can tell you it was originally based on the principle of ADB - as if Nation's units can be "constantly" moving before a war, and so start on the correct part of their territory if they've made posts to that effect beforehand. Novatainia had made those posts so that was the assumption we were working on.
However, good work Monty, you've found a loophole. This is one of the few cases not explicitly mentioned in the convention! (can you sticky it, btw).

Yes, that's for people starting part way through, not starting at the start (because at the start you don't have to start at the capital). But considering the backstory posts moving units beforehand, and the fact my men have already spent two days "sailing" to a location 50 miles away, I'd think it fine to start four (including North) of our orbats in Nova Kajar (nominally we have 12 citizens ...). That's how Prodigy and Longbow got there too - backstory. Thus I put our 'starting' locations as 'start at the start of the war' not 'start at the pre-war backstory stage'. If you're going to change that for some of our orbats, please do so very quickly before all our forces become engaged in fighting, and give those you do change 'back-moves' of travelling days for those they've missed by you changing their location.O. Any person joining the war midway, where fighting has occured within the country they are fighting for (whether because their country is already involved in the war and they are only now joining and posting their orbat, or because of an agreement by their country to allow fighting within it before their country entered the war) MUST start within their country's capital. Where their country's capital is occupied by the enemy, they must start in a suitable friendly location agreed between them and the enemy occupying the capital. Where their country has not had fighting occuring within it already, it is assumed their forces may already have been mobilised and may start anywhere within their country's territory.

Re: Starting Locations
No action will be taken and no action was going to be taken.
It was a theoretical musing regarding the levels of accuracy and precision in backstory compared to the official war thread as well as the weight carried by backstory in comparison to the official war thread and convention regarding force starting points.
As for teh Convention, Vilhelm and I have both tried to find a way to sticky it but I can't find an option which allows us to do it

Odd. Maybe Spangle gave you the wrong mod rights.
