[JP]Montague vs Gman Russell (Clearance of wrecks La Terre)
Although I seem to be involved in an unusual amount of recwarring litigation as ever, I and Gman Russel have a difference of opinion on his ability to clear the wrecks which block his entry into La Terre Bay and the Port of La Terre.
My submission is that Gman cannot remove the wreckage simply by firing torpedoes at it. As a comparison the Suez Canal, roughly the same sort of depth and width as these channels as envisaged, was not cleared of the wreckage until early 1957 after the sinking of all traffic in it during October 1956. That is at least 3 months afterwards. 6 ships need to be cleared from various channels and simply firing torpedoes into wreckage will merely break up the wreckage which will sink and still pose a problem to any ships attempting to sail over it.

i guess he can do it, if he uses a lot of torpedoes! like say 10+ per transport ship.

Montague is correct. An attempt could be made to clear the ships, but it could only ever (within the length of this war) be partially successful. The wreckage would also cause not inconsiderable damage to ships attempting to pass over it.

May I at least give some kind of defense, or is your mind already made up?

just give it... maybe he hasn't thought of what exactly you planned to do.. maybe, your idea might just work... who knows!

Thank you, sir. I would argue that because the wreckage gets broken up and sinks, it will mean that yes, it will still be impassible at low tide. At high tide though, if all the wreckage is broken up and settled, there might still be enough clearance to make it. Think of a piece of furniture assembled, then dismantled.

actually, it would be more like a piece of assembled furniture being hit hard by a hammer... you'd make holes, and if you happen to hit the sweet spot, you might break it into some pieces.. but on the whole, the furniture still maintains its height/width and other general characteristics.

He's right. It's not going to be cleared without months of work.
