Research and that malarkey

Not really research, but just trying to apply structure and understanding to the micronational community. I suppose that's research of a sort. Anyway, in Hamland we have the "University of New Kirriemuir" where I tend to post long winded articles on micronations. As it is a community wide thing I am happy to repost things in this forum for discussion and debate. I'm currently working on 3 outlooks on the development of micronations and hopefully after will look at union building, YAMOs and other things.

I'm basically applying structure to what we already know. So the question is, can I post this stuff up? Also, can I have some sort of intellectual ownership of it (I don't know this law very well)? So reference it to the University of New Kirriemuir?

As someone who has posted stuff in this forum before, yes. Feel free to post stuff you think is helpful. People will know it's you who posted it etc. I certainly claim the now woefully out of date economic papers I wrote and posted here, there and everywhere as mine. That work?

Yeah, I hope to write more when I don't have to write University essays. But I will definitely be posting some things up in the future then :)

Getting intellectual property ownership is easy - you get that by default, and your claim is supported/strengthened by your ability to prove you are the original creator and modifier. Not usually a big deal.

What exactly this sort of ownership means in a hobby like this is a different matter altogether. It's generally a business term designed to protect economic advantages by guarding intangible concepts. The lack of any pan-micronational courts further mucks things up. Say I'm a total dick (hypothetically speaking, of course!) and decide to put my name on the work and publish it in Nelaga. Normally, you'd have no real recourse here, since you wouldn't have any rights as a non-citizen of Nelaga. Of course, this example is a bit flawed since Nelaga has NIPPA and you could claim (and probably win) intellectual property rights even as a non-citizen under NIPPA and defeat me in Nelagan courts, but you wouldn't have any chance in the rest of these barbaric micronations.

I dunno. Either way, it's pretty unlikely that you'd have an issue. Just remember that a patent or any similar protection is basically just an invitation for a lawsuit and doesn't grant you any actual special protection.
