Feltrinsland Claim
Hey,
So, a few notes: All of our citizens have been micronationalists for at least 1.5 years, so while I haven't been terribly active, one of them has, that being the person you know as King André, King of Plagaia. The nation is lead as a constitutional trinarchy both in RL and in RP.
I realise that the claims we make take away parts of Plagaia. In fact, as King André will be able to tell you, Plagaia will be disestablished, and instead, the remnants of it will become a yet-to-be-named protectorate of Landashir headed by James Puchowski; hence the recoloring of the area.
I based the size of our claims off of our number of active citizens, which is 9. All of these citizens can be vouched for either by James Puchowski, King André, Philip Fish, Will Sörgel or Bjorn Olsen.
Anyway:
Name & Title: Augustus William Danforth (full civil name, full style is obviously longer. please also note that we use characters, and this is the name of my main character)
E-Mail/Contact: feltrinsland@gmail.com
Nation: Empire of Feltrinsland
No. of Citizens: 9
MN URL: http://www.feltrinsland.net/forum/ (relatively new); http://www.feltrinsland.net/ (under construction)

Notes: see above.

Re: Feltrinsland Claim
Thanks
Okay, looking at that claim, the first thing that pops into my head is that it is very large. In fact, it's way too large for a nation with only four forum posts and a shell of a website. It's almost the same size as Hamland (the light purple nation to the west), and they've been around a good four years and have been one of the most active in the sector on a few occasions.
I'd say that the land that Plagaia is ceding to Feltrinsland (which we would need King André's written acceptance for) is probably the maximum I'd be willing to let you claim for now. It's logical to me to only accept that too; Feltrinsland is seceding from Plagaia (effectively), so it should only take the land from Plagaia in its initial claim. After that, if Feltrinsland wishes to expand its territory after internally developing and growing, then that'd be fine
I'll let you think about that before I move this claim to the Council, in case you wish to modify the size of the claim...

Re: Feltrinsland Claim
Hello, this is King André here, and just to say that I accept giving Plagaian land to Feltrinsland, and Landashir's new protectorate.

Re: Feltrinsland Claim
No no, we are not seceding from Plagaia. We are establishing ourselves, and Plagaia is then ceding land to us.
Also, it would be fine to reduce the claim size slightly, but if we only claim the land Plagaia is ceding, we have as much land as a lot of the 1 or 2 citizen nations here have. Now the thing is, we have 8 provinces (the subdivisions on the claim are a bit old, sorry for that), because there are 8 citizens that have their own semi-autonomous subdivisions (3 Kingdoms and 5 Grand Duchies, respectively).
I know our forum and websites are, as of yet, a bit meager, but personally, I think the claim is justified considering there are hardly any resources in that general area (personally, I think resources are too thinly spread anyway, if you compare with Earth, but that's just me).
The problem I have is that I know we are going to become active, and so I need to claim something so we can get the geopolitical simulation, maps etc going. That's really the main problem: We'd like to prove to you that we're active, just we can't do so before we claim land because that makes it impossible to simulate internal geopolitics, which is supposed to be a big aspect.
I have a suggestion: If we reduce our "claim" by one half, and don't actually claim it but just use it for a few months and then submit that reduced claim for re-evaluation, would that be possible? That way, we leave the land open for others to claim and you can make a more informed judgment because we'll be more alive and kicking by that time?
Sound good?

Re: Feltrinsland Claim
Thanks, André
Ah right, okay. So if you're a completely new nation, then I'd have to say a claim that large is even more unwarranted.William Danforth wrote:No no, we are not seceding from Plagaia. We are establishing ourselves, and Plagaia is then ceding land to us.
That's irrelevant. If those one or two-man nations can create more forum activity than your nine-man nation, then they're justified in having more land, I think. It's possible to have eight subdivisions within a smaller claim too.
The resource maps are rather dated, that's for sure, and I think it's a genral understanding that only the major deposits are labelled, with smaller deposits of other resources still being found in most other areas. I also wouldn't try and justify a claim based on resources either. Unless you intend on basing a lot of your culture, industry and trade on a couple of specific resources, then I'm not sure a large claim can be justified because those two resources are spread-out.I think the claim is justified considering there are hardly any resources in that general area (personally, I think resources are too thinly spread anyway, if you compare with Earth, but that's just me).
I can understand that, but we have to treat all claims as fairly as possible, and allowing Feltrinsland to claim what is a massive chunk of land with no activity or development - it's not too difficult to internally develop without having land - would be highly biased and unfair on all the nations we've previously rejected with even smaller claims. That's really the main problem: We'd like to prove to you that we're active, just we can't do so before we claim land because that makes it impossible to simulate internal geopolitics, which is supposed to be a big aspect.
That's a good suggestion. I have no problem with you "using" the land in order to help your internal developments without actually claiming it. That way, you can show that you're active and developed enough to initially merit a decent-sized claim after a couple of months or soI have a suggestion: If we reduce our "claim" by one half, and don't actually claim it but just use it for a few months and then submit that reduced claim for re-evaluation, would that be possible?

Re: Feltrinsland Claim
Okay, so if we're doing it that way, this claim is no longer valid
