The Treaty of the Inner Sea
between
The Empire of Jingdao & South Batavia
and
The High Realm of Stormark
(Hereafter referred to collectively as 'The Treaty Parties')
Recognising the disputes that have unfortunately arisen from recent events surrounding the Strait of Barbary as disruptive to the region,
Aspiring to see peace and unquestionable stability returned to the Inner Sea and the whole continent of Cibola, and
Realising that only through mutual understanding backed up by diplomatic interaction can this be achieved,
The Treaty Parties hereby agree to the following points and pledge to adhere to the responsibilities it lays down until such time as by mutual consent it is agreed that they need no longer apply, or one of the Treaty Parties is defunct, with a peaceable approach and a spirit of mutual respect.
1. Each Treaty Party recognises the respective rights of the other with regard to the Barbary Strait: in the case of Jingdao & South Batavia, the rights due to the sovereign controller of marine territory, and in the case of Stormark, unfettered access for its own ships and those ships its government shall sponsor for the purposes of tourism, international and internal trade, economic, cultural and infrastructural maintenance and other purposes as reasonably to be derived from these general headings.
2. Stormark recognises the right of Jingdao & South Batavia to expand to the south of its Canton of Barbarije into Cibola and therefore pledges to limit its claims on Cibola in such a way as not to block the other Treaty Party's expansion.
3. Stormark shall found the city of Castellamare del Golfo on the western coast in a claim contiguous to the southern border of Jingdao & South Batavia, as depicted in the First Schedule to this Treaty.
4. Jingdao & South Batavia will allow Stormark to construct, maintain and freely use the Canale di Tancredo d'Adraisio between the cities of Castellamare del Golfo and Cefalù across the territory of the Canton of Barbarije.

I am pleased to say that Jingdao has ratified this treaty, however less than pleased about the lack of a signature for Stormark.

The move I made was a precautionary emergency move to prevent a very undue and overly hasty annextion in absence of those, Remus and Arkadius, who have enough votes in the Federal Assembly to block that annexation, and upon their return they did indeed voted against the annexation.Jonas Windsor wrote:Monty, you really think that he will keep Batavia alive?
It is by far the best place to preserve a country, you can ask the Empress of Sangun all about it.Jonas Windsor wrote:Last time he did this too and he gave Batavia a nice place on the Stormarkian forum.
You are very much incorrect concerning that matter, and conviently forgetting about my quite extensive family ties to Batavia, which include but are not limited to two Queen Consorts and a Queen Regnant, which are very much reason for me to very much care about Batavia.Jonas Windsor wrote:He doesn't care about its existence or its culture, he cares about the new titles that he can add to his long list.
There will be no Pornmarkian workers, only Storish workers who abhor porn since that very much goes against the matriarchal fertility cult.Jonas Windsor wrote:We don't want to see Pornmarkian workers being attacked by angry Barbarians, do we?

Re: [Stormark] Canale di Tancredo d'Adraisio
Indeed, which I'm not sad about. Our goal was to help it survive till there were citizens who would restart it. That was quicker then we thought, but that is something I totally don't mind. You also forget to say that they both condemned your move and don't see it as an attempt 'to save' the north, but as one of your little annexation attempts. The move I made was a precautionary emergency move to prevent a very undue and overly hasty annextion in absence of those, Remus and Arkadius, who have enough votes in the Federal Assembly to block that annexation, and upon their return they did indeed voted against the annexation.
Yes, because everyone was so happy that you did it... needless to repeat what I already have said.It is by far the best place to preserve a country, you can ask the Empress of Sangun all about it.
It's not because you have 'family ties' (which in both cases didn't count: the first time, Arkadius had already merged the north with south to establish the federal state, which meant he no longer was king, and during your last attempt Maximiliaan was king) that you are worth even a fifth of any other citizen. Instead of hiding behind your fancy titles, you should try to deserve it to meddle in Batavian affairs. You are very much incorrect concerning that matter, and conviently forgetting about my quite extensive family ties to Batavia, which include but are not limited to two Queen Consorts and a Queen Regnant, which are very much reason for me to very much care about Batavia.
Fact is: you never did much except saying that you have family ties. That this is the reason of you meddling in and that this would have made you a more suitable overseer and protector than someone who served the nation for years and helped developing it from the scratch makes me laugh at you and at the same time saddens me to hear you talk such rubbish.
But that is something of the past, luckily. And what I have heard from my Batavian colleagues is that they would prefer to see the nation die with all its culture and history than that you get your hands on it. Something that I fully stand behind.
But good, it's probably needless to discuss this here any further now Batavia escaped your filthy hands. I'm happy to see Batavia alive, that's all I wanted.

Needless to say: Jonas talks here as North Batavian citizen, not as a member of the Jingdaoese government, which he isn't.

...Can I just cut through the crap here and ask the South Batavians to just stop wasting everyone's time. Already these negotiations have dragged on for over a week despite the hysterical rape analogies and name calling by the South Batavians - and now we have this piece of prize bleating and feigned outrage from Jonas, who attempts to construe a treaty offered by the Alexandrians in good faith which includes a clause that restricts the movement of the Alexandrian navy in the Inner Cibolan Sea as attempting to curb Batavian independence. Those factors, in conjunction with the hillarious pieces of pulp just published by the Batavian post lead me to simply say - Jonas, neither you or your people are even remotely interested in negotiating the situation, so stop pretending you are, stop pretending you care about an amicable solution and go away.

Err... You understand that this treaty has almost nothing to do with the Straits? Very weird that you say that we don't want to have a decent solution for both parties, after both the Heavenly Light as High King have signed a treaty which solves this matter. And we waste everyone's time? But the treaty is signed... so what is it that you are complaining about? If someone is now wasting anyone's time, it's you.

I should probably just make a new signature saying 'the views of Astopov do not necessarily reflect those of the Ashkenatzi Foreign Ministry. If you wait patiently, Goltz will be here with a mop to clean up the mess...'

I just thought it was a prudent place to put a message concerning the general tenor of the South Batavian sides' language. Obviously, this is just a personal point from me - were it otherwise, I would use the format of an official Ashkenatza MoFA message.

You say that we aren't interested in negotiating, but this topic itself proves the contrary (so it's a bit weird to proclaim such things, simply because we disagree with certain other proposals): we have a decent treaty which is agreed on by both parties.Aster wrote:I just thought it was a prudent place to put a message concerning the general tenor of the South Batavian sides' language.
