[Ashkenatza] Internal Modifications and Updated Claim
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - אויסלאנדס מיניסטעריום
Name & Title: Moshe Goltz, 16th Nohsi of the Republic of Ashkenatza (as of yesterday- I am posting this as my last duty as outgoing Foreign Minister before I declare my new Kabinet)
E-Mail/Contact: By PM here or in Ashkenatza
Nation: Republic of Ashkenatza
Request: We have finally (apologies for the wait) passed a Knesset resolution on a new claim which we intended to make to compensate for our transferring the Ashkenatzi Skerry Isles to our friends in Flanders. The islands claimed now are of a slightly smaller size than the Skerries were if I am not mistaken. Also included are some internal modifications of borders and city names (the claim is a different image from the internal modifications to make things easier).
I. Internal Modifications
II. Updated territorial expansion
Regards,
GOLTZ

Yes we decided that given Ashkenatza's left-wing tendency and the history of those isles (Feianova and the Red Antilles), they would make an interesting addition to our Republic. It's much more interesting to base the cultural composition of new claims on former micronations in the area than just to superimpose a new identity on them. So I would imagine that the citizens of the Ashkenatzi Antilles would probably have a culture influenced by Feianova and the numerous Oriental-themed nations which were formerly in the area (Xinguo, Kampong, Chi Nam, Taesong etc) and may well speak some Dutch-based creole left over from the Red Antilles.
The same reasoning is for Wansun- Astopov found a newspaper clipping written by Ryan when he was leader of the Mala'eretz which referred to the island to the south of the mainland Mala'eretz as being a Chinese-themed area called Wansun. We'd already assumed that the area had some heritage left over from Chi Nam so the idea that the Mala'eretz was a diverse area was there from the beginning.
The city names for the Ashkenatzi Antilles may interest as well. Spelevsk is in homage to the Red Antilles (it was a large city back at the time), Feianovsk in homage to Feianova and Leonid-Bloom-Stadt in honour of our very own Maroonist Stakhanov. It's always nice to have a nod to Micran history back on the map!

I second that sentiment. Those were the days...Elijah Ayreon wrote:Thank you for bringing back the name "Antilles" <3
If you ever need any help with that creole, just give me a sign. (Conversely, I've been thinking of ways to integrate the islands' Ashkenatzi heritage into the culture of the Beneluccas, and one of them has been to use some Bargoens words, e.g. refer to Schaarlecht/Vladiskerrysk as mokum rather than as stad. But I didn't have much time as of lately to develop this.)Maximos wrote:So I would imagine that the citizens of the Ashkenatzi Antilles would probably have a culture influenced by Feianova and the numerous Oriental-themed nations which were formerly in the area (Xinguo, Kampong, Chi Nam, Taesong etc) and may well speak some Dutch-based creole left over from the Red Antilles.
We'll try to inform Spelev himself. I'm sure he'll be thrilled. The city names for the Ashkenatzi Antilles may interest as well.
