Re: [dao] Internal mod
Just out of curiosity more than anything, but what's the rationale behind this? Also, is this a new entity, or is it still a facet of Jingdao?

I will try to answer that one.Craitman wrote:Just out of curiosity more than anything, but what's the rationale behind this? Also, is this a new entity, or is it still a facet of Jingdao?
The citizens of Jingdao (Rasmus, me, Orion, Jack and David/Aurelia/Marcus) have decided that participating in micronationalism isn't really what we are looking. We enjoy story-telling, writing a nations' history, doing cool stuff (like making a map),... but we don't really need the other nations surrounding us and a map limiting our movements (no criticism on you or the MCS, we understand very well that you can't give us the whole world... yet ). We have moved on to start our own conworld project on http://www.jingdao.nl where we will try to develop our world with elements of Jingdao (and new ones). Its technology will develop through time, just like how the clans - all officially part of Jingdao, but de facto independent (like the Holy Roman Empire) - will grow through time and eventually will start to fight each other (at least, that's what I expect that will happen).
For the time being we want to keep our land, in case our project would fail. We still have a subforum dedicated to Micras on the forum.

Re: [dao] Internal mod
What Jonas said is pretty close but the rationale behind this (rather than the other project) is to create a nice garden on Micras while we focus most of our attention on other things. We can't maintain two empires on two different planets under the same name.
Re: [dao] Internal mod
My reasoning is a little bit different, I had no problem with the old forums, but I intent to keep participating in the new project as well. /JingdaoeseJackJonas Windsor wrote:The citizens of Jingdao (Rasmus, me, Orion, Jack and David/Aurelia/Marcus)
As an MCS councillor however, I have to say that you are demanding quite a lot from our society. On the one hand, you reject the Micras project, but on the other hand, you ask us to keep a huge chunk of land for you in case the project fails. Furthermore, you request a modification that will leave the MCS map look quite awful, with a large piece of yellow, without any cities. Can't you reconsider this request, so that it would be a bit more acceptable to the council?

Re: [dao] Internal mod
Thank you for explaining the situation(s) a little bit more, Jonas and Jezza, but I must admit that I agree with Jack's point here. I can appreciate - and have no issue whatsoever with - Jingdao wishing to focus primarily on its own project, but that doesn't mean your back-up land has to be a blank blob. Jezza states that Jingdao can't maintain two empires on different planets, but why not? It's hardly a new concept (see Safiria and/or pretty much most MicroWiki nations with claims on Micras), and Jingdao's citizen base and activity warrants a large claim regardless. Just because the work being done on Jingdao's forum is focused around other aspects of the nation, that doesn't mean your Micrasian claims can't be maintained as they are on the claimsmap alone. A lot of regions on Micras are underdeveloped and are never worked on by their respective claimants, but they still remain marked with borders and cities; adding geographical realism at the very leastJack wrote:As an MCS councillor however, I have to say that you are demanding quite a lot from our society. If I may add something here: I currently hold control over Lunaris. I do things with it now and then but it serves mostly as a sort of historical preserve. To wipe everything off of it would be an insult to all the people who put years of their lives into the development of the land. To do such a thing with something as large and old and developed as... whatever you're calling it now would be an even greater loss by volume alone. I suggest you all find an alternative method to do whatever it is you're trying to do.

Continued Jingdaoese suzerainty over Kildare is a grave insult to all the people who put years of their lives into its development as a duchy of Shireroth.

Re: [dao] Internal mod
Perhaps not the best example, given what I did to it when I left Although I would add that I only removed my own contributions. Not to take anything away from Jonas' long and fruitful presence in the place, but Kildare was around long before any Jingdaoese - some of the names erased by this claim have been on the map for almost the entire duration of Micras' existence.Ryker wrote:If I may add something here: I currently hold control over Lunaris. The general purpose of the MCS is to facilitate richness of content on a community level - consequently the annihilation of this richness in favour of blank space, by a still-active member, represents an extraordinary act which in turn requires an extraordinary justification. This justification doesn't appear to have materialised, beyond an apparent desire to harm the community in retaliation for recent misfortunes on Micras experienced by certain Jingdaoese - this petulance emphasised, perhaps, by the rather scruffy and unpolished claim image. The erased names are denied an existence even as ruins on the Green, after all.

Misfortunes on Micras?
The world is able to enjoy all the riches of our Garden. Hundred thousands of people are living within our borders in their natural habitat. A great source for biologists to research mankind in its most anarchistic and natural state!

Re: [dao] Internal mod
An unfortunate side-effect of flower gardens is that they may agitate some people into suffering from hayfever.
Or perhaps, in the case of an anarchic flower garden, that might be NAYfever.
Is that the faintest scent of a Jexit in the air?

Regardless of the geopolitical context behind this question, I would like to request that we avoid further use of the word "Jexit" as cruel mistreatment of the language.Lord Erion wrote:Is that the faintest scent of a Jexit in the air?
