Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
Because of course landlocked countries have overseas territories.
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

I bet if you looked hard enough you could find a territory of the Holy Roman Empire which did
Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
Holy Roman Empire wasn't landlocked. But the Swiss do have a navy.

Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
I mean, the Florian Republic already has overseas territory. It isn't like they're doing anything unprecedented here. This claim makes sense, in my view, especially considering expanding trade networks which exist between the Florians and the East.

Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
I'm always sceptical of nations claiming random bits of land on other continents. I can give it the benefit of the doubt when it's Passio-Corum who are a sea-faring imperialist civilisation, but I think there's too many nations who do this rather than just expanding in territory where they already have territory, especially in this case as Floria is right next to a large swathe of green.

Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
The best I could find was some merchants/money-lenders from Augsburg who blagged a colonial concession from Charles V. The fate of their expedition to "Little Venice" doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the notion.
A couple of patrol boats hardly constitutes a navy.
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

Having their headquarters based in Malta at the time, I don't think the Hospitallers qualify as part of the Holy Roman Empire, or as a landlocked power?
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.
Re: Florian Eura (Florian Overseas Territory)
No, but it still makes for a good study of smaller nations attempting colonization.
