I wish stuff would stop going down while I'm too busy to try and help deal with it :(

I'll just say that, having spoken to Ed before this claim's submission, I was surprised to see it submitted so soon after work restarted, but I appreciated his approach in doing so and - as has been mentioned - I didn't move this to be voted on until a bit more work had gone into it. With the rate of development, coupled with a bit of a precedent that projects such as this (founded a while ago but only recently rebooted from inactivity hoping to claim) usually require a week or so's work to prove that they're alive again, I was intending to put it to a vote at the weekend.

I'll be honest that I really don't understand how things progressed here in the way they did - nothing particularly screams unfair treatment or incorrect behaviour - but I've since spoken to Ed again and it seems like whatever did put him off the idea of claiming is enough for his stance to be maintained. As ever, it's a shame to see another prospective nation collapse...

Not sure either, though I do remember a conversation a while back where someone stated that the reason for that policy was so that new people could prove their commitment to the hobby before joining (so we didn't have the case that someone would get on the map and then just not do anything for 3 months before their claim got taken off. That said though, it would be a little backhanded to allow Altus on the map after just 3 days of actual development just because we know the founder.
This is not what I am asking though.

I filed as a polite notice. There isn't even a vote on the Council on this?

This is to give everyone a heads up of where I am going - it's REALLY HARD to develop a place without having an idea of where one wants to go.

Why is giving ample notice seeming to be such a problem for everyone? If it is, it's ridiculous and unreasonable. You don't have to take action unless you want to...?
Invariably, when someone submits something in the claim thread, regardless of whether there is a live vote in the council or not, I have to currently treat it as a claim. I would be open though to the suggestion that has been put forward elsewhere of a notification of intent to claim, as I do agree that this would be able to help nations claim and establish a certain amount of continuity before they join Micras.

Re taking action: Currently we kinda have to, the current rules don't really allow a formal scope for saying "hey, I want to claim here" unless you let the council know informally and they take that into consideration when judging other claims.

I did let everyone know. And before filing, I also spoke with Craitman.

I was very clear in this thread when asked about my intentions about the claim and still, people chose to project whatever it was they wanted to see onto my claim. The claim was significantly smaller than what I claimed for the Wechua Nation, another one-man project I had.

Is everyone simply ignoring what I said here and still doing whatever they want? Because from over here, that's honestly what it looks like.

I acted with the below in consideration (bolded by me for emphasis):
9. Qualification
(1) A state may, at the discretion of the Council, become a member of the Society if they can prove to the satisfaction of the Council that they: (a) are independent of every other member, and (b) have established a documented online existence for a period exceeding 30 days prior to their initial application.
(2) States which do not meet the criteria in subsection (1)(b) may reserve land at the Council's discretion until they reach the age stated in the aforementioned criteria.
If the Council won't be bothered to honor their own Charter, then my confidence in my decision to withdraw the claim and forsake this charade (which is what it is) is increased immensely.

All I have done is uphold the charter and re-state what it says. I never said I was outright rejecting your application, all I stated was that as of yesterday it did not meet the criteria of adding it to the map that day. I didn't move it over to the claims section because I assumed that this was a notification of intent to claim, which as you pointed out is valid within the charter.

But I still let everyone know, I clarified.

So now clarifications don't count then? Is that what you're saying? I made the clarification in good faith to a reasonable comment that Jack made. Not really sensing that it's being reciprocated.

And for clarification, where else should I have done this then? Because I don't see anyone placing notices about intentions elsewhere. Let's get that very clear for everyone since no matter what I did, it's turning out it's not enough and people are hung up on "it's not in the claim."

Let's use this opportunity then to set a clear, official policy on this, instead of this runaround.

So then what is this all about then? I clarified. And I still got attacked for it. Despite my very clear clarification of my intentions, it was still moved to a vote. What's this really about then? Process? Following procedure? Because if it's that I get it. But that would be 100% on you and the Council.

Set a clear policy and a clear expectation then.
