Re: Hello MCS
Welcome!
I'd say the best bit of advice I could give you is that, no matter what it is, if you're interested in it, get involved with it! If you see something happening that interests you, get talking to whoever runs it and become involved. Or even if you have an idea about something that isn't currently being done, go ahead with it, even if not everyone appreciates it. You'll never please everyone, but as long as what you're doing pleases you, then there's no reason to stop doing it!
I'll give a few examples of what can be found on this forum alone - stuff you can personally get involved with or at least aspects of the community you'll be able to get a lot of guidance from more experienced members:
Economics: national banks, unified currency systems, linked economies, exchange rates, etc.
RecWar: simulated warfare based around intricate points systems and fought over backstorying.
Cartography: making maps of all sizes for all places.
Astronomy: mapping the universe around Micras the best we can.
Heraldry: coats of arms and ensigns designing.
Sport: simulated sports leagues and annual football tournaments for some national pride.
Meteorology: simulating weather systems for Micras.
Don't forget, considering you're involved in MicroWiki, that we also have our own community-run wiki which is always willing to take contributions and expand its articles!
I think that's everything here, although there's a lot of stuff hosted on separate nation's boards, so apologies if I've missed-out anything glaringly obvious

Re: Hello MCS
Boss man hit all the good points I would have myself. I just want to second what he said about if you want to do something DO IT. I made the mistake when I started out of trying not to step on toes and develop that original niche. I've come to find that in a community as small as this, we're starved for collaboration. If you see something you like, join in. Also, we're not all the Mavericks we'd like to make people think. If you find you have a skill that someone else lacks, they will be more than happy to try to reciprocate.

Great to see a new face here!
Ashkenatza, Normark, and Alexandria are some of the other interesting nations that aren't a member of the bastion union. Normark and Ashkenatza in particular are where you may want to look if you're into political, military and cultural simulation.
