Micran Heritage Sites
As part of my real life i have a level of involvement in the management of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and it occurs to me that this is something that could spur on cultural development and recognise those who already engage in it.
Essentially what I'm suggesting is that henceforth I will be running a system of accreditation for "Micran Heritage Sites", an award for sites of outstanding cultural significance within Micronations. Sites be anything from an entire city to a single building, and to achieve recognition as a MHS the site must meet the following criteria:
In practice this means if you have, for example, a castle within your territory that you want to become a Micran Heritage Site you would seek to prove why that castle in particular is historically significant, that it is an outstanding castle of its type and that the existance of that castle is linked to the living or deceased culture of your (or someone elses') Micronation.
I can provide an example of what I mean if that would help (or look at the inscription for a real UNESCO world heritage site), and also would it be agreeable to have a board in the independent organisations section of this forum for the "Micran Heritage Sites Board"?
Edit: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/786 something like that, for example, is what we're looking for.

The idea behind this is that it will encourage a Micronation to develop cultural significance for specific sites within their territory and try and link their territory to the on-going and living history of that territory. A Micronation can have an unlimited number of sites within their territory, but I'm not going to hand recognition out like confetti otherwise it's be meaningless. Successful sites will be given an "Inscription" which briefly sums up their outstanding universal value and a record will be kept of it and, should that nation die, we can then keep the site alive as an entity within whoever claims the territory next if they're willing to accept the continued existance of the site.1) To represent an exceptional level of cultural development within a Micronational community, either on a national or international scale.
2) To bear a unique testimony to a cultural tradition of a Micronation, either living or dead.
3) To be an outstanding example of a type of building, architecture or landscape which illustrates a significant stage in Micronational History.
4) To be tangibly associated with events or living traditions, ideas or beliefs of outstanding universal significance.

Really like this idea! Should hopefully tempt people into writing a bit more about specific places
I'll create a subforum for it when there's been a few more "I'm interested" replies here

Re: Micran Heritage Sites
Hey Al, I am really interested in this and have a couple sites in Uantir I want to put forward, but between 12 hour shifts, the Keltian Express and trying desperately to get the couple thousand words of military related stuff into Wiki format (I hate wiki format) I haven't got the time.
I also know that, like the climate stuff I was gung-ho about, I will forget about it pretty soon being swamped with stuff. Just letting you know that if you see me post those project completions and then don't get back to this, it's because I forgot and give me a ping about it and I'll be all over it like [insert favorite stupid, catchy catchphrase here.]
