Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
Hello!
Today I am announcing the virtual Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011, to be held next month (November). It will be hosted by the Kingdom of Eragia, and will be open to both MicroWiki nations and Micras.
Anyone who wants to sign up can, just post in this thread. Please sign up! We need lots of people to make this good.
Signup closing on Friday the 4th of November.
Schedule:
7/11/11 = Pool 1 games.
8/11/11 = Pool 2 games.
9/11/11 = Pool 3 games.
10/11/11 = Pool 4 games.
13/11/11 = Quarter Final 1
15/11/11 = Quarter Final 2
17/11/11 = Quarter Final 3
19/11/11 = Quarter Final 4
21/11/11 = Semi Final 1
23/11/11 = Semi Final 2
25/11/11 = Semi Final 3
27/11/11 = Semi Final 4
29/11/11 = Bronze Final
30/11/11 = Final
How it will work
Results will be done with a dice.
1= Team 1 scores a try
2= Team 1 scores a drop goal
3= Nothing happens
4= Team 2 scores a try
5= Team 2 scores a drop goal
6= Nothing happens.
If someone scores a try, the dice is rolled again to see if its converted.
1= Converted
2= Not converted
3= Converted
4= Not converted
5= Converted
6= Not converted.
The dice is rolled 5 times in a game, not including the times to check if the try is converted or not.
Well, I think thats it. If anyone has any questions, just ask.
Also, signing up for the RWC automatically signs you up to the Intermicronational Rugby Board, which is a intermicronational rugby body, that will enforce the rules and double-check the results of the matches. However, you don't need to do anything, and all it means is that you agree to follow the rules.
Well, thats about it.
Now, let the sign up begin!

Re: Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
There were some kind of Rugby Cup previously on Micras... in fact, we used to have a league in Hamland some years ago (I believe it was in 2007)
Anyway, Hamland's in!

Wow. 24 hours and 18 sign ups already!
I think that the sign ups will close when we get 24 sign ups or it's Friday, whichever comes first. All in favour?
On another note, the Eragian National Rugby Team are ready to announce their official kit!
Anyone else have kits for their teams?

Re: Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
Due to the fact that we have 18 sign ups, we are discussing the possibility of closing signups tomorrow morning and having qualifiers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with Eragia auto-qualifying (cos we're organizing the event).
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

That could work. I think that there should be some form of preference for those teams which took the initiative and registered first. In other words, if you want to narrow-down 18 teams to 16, the last four nations to put their names down should play in the qualifiers

OK. There has been mixed thoughts about this on MicroWiki (I posted it there to keep things fair), some agreeing, some not caring, some disliking the idea.Craitman wrote:That could work. Does anyone else here have any opinions on that idea?

ANNOUNCEMENT: The games/draws etc. will all be live on UStream! This is in the interest of no match-fixing (otherwise, if the team the host wants to win looses, the host might be tempted to redo the match. By putting them on UStream live, this stops that problem)
Re: Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
As a side note: We, at FMS are all moved by one feeling: trust... we trust each other and we know that we would not fix any match, even if our nation/team loses... so, as for me, I have no need to see it live, for I trust in what will be done...Ben McKinlay wrote:ANNOUNCEMENT: The games/draws etc. will all be live on UStream! Re: Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
SIGN UPS ARE NOW CLOSED
Yep, its official. 24 hours ago I said sign ups were closing in 24 hours and tomorrow the qualifiers start.
The qualifiers will work like this:
Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the qualifiers will be held.
The only team to automatically qualify is the home nation (in this case Eragia).
The remaining 17 teams will each play each other in a round robin tournament
(for example:
team a vs team b,
team c vs team d,
team b vs team d,
team c, vs team a,
team a vs team d,
team b vs team c).
The teams will play each other once.
A win will get you 4 points, a draw 2, and a loss 0.
The two teams with the least points after every team plays each other are eliminated. The remaining 15, along with Eragia, will play in the World Cup.
---------
This system was devised after getting lots of peoples opinions as well as examining macronational systems.

Yup. I think. GMT is British, right? (just wondering because one time I checked, Britain and GMT was 1 hour out of sync).

Re: Intermicronational Rugby World Cup 2011
We're GMT (UTC+0) in the winter and BST (UTC+1) in the summer. The clocks went back nearly a week ago, so we're GMT again now.
Basically, which time zone do you live in and are you doing the broadcast at 19:30 in your local time?
