Re: Batavian Post
I suppose Maroonism is a left-wing cult. Puts you in a bit of a pickle that we're not ashamed of it, doesn't it?
The discussions which led to His Excellency's resignation were held in private and are still ongoing.
There is every reason to believe that a peaceful and amicable resolution to this event can be found.

An excellent idea Tongmu Aster.

Re: Batavian Post
Aster labels any news story against himself or ashkenatza as propaganda, nothing new here. Their very own citizens have confirmed what I have been saying all along. Whether it be on the far right or the far left, the 'maroon republic' will always be led by extremist ideals.
Re: Batavian Post
What is this Maroonism to which people are referring? I can already appreciate what the perceptions are, but what is it really? Or what did it start off as?

I enjoy that so many here don't understand satire.

I'm good with satire, I just want to hear the backstory and history

Re: Batavian Post
I have not followed Ashkenatza's inland stuff closely... but if I understand things then Maroonism is originally a political philosophy that later became the dominant political culture within the country. Maroonism is after the colour on Ashkenatza's flag and it is a nationalistic element in the country. Uh.. it's difficult to explain but whenever I hear Maroonism in Ashkenatzi propaganda it feels like a synonym for Ashkenatzi nationalism.

MicrasWiki may be able to help you.
It's more of a political culture than an ideology per se. It's certainly defined to a large degree what is and isn't politically hygienic in Ashkenatza (state ownership of a number of economic interests, a commitment to a comprehensive programme of social welfare and checks on the executive are pretty much accepted across the political spectrum now), but both the centre-right and centre-left in Ashkenatza accept it. A big aspect of Maroonism (yep, the name comes from the flag's colours) is holding a shared civic national identity above those of the Republic's constituent peoples (Ashkenazim, Tellians, Elw, Amokolians, Laqi, Alkhivan Babkhi, Sephardic, Mala'anashim, Wansunese, Chinamese and so forth)- and that's reflected in a sense of great pride in the democratic ideal and the Ashkenatzi system of government. I would imagine that the continuing dispute with Babkha and the Harmonious Society at large has fuelled that to a certain degree. You can get some idea of the cultural influence it's had from the street names and institutions shown on the map of Vladimizrakh (a city in the Trans-Elwynn) I made.
I think it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but I'm sure most would agree that the main advantage is that Ashkenatza is more unique for it.
