Final Update from New Victoria

Re: Final Update from New Victoria
Thanks for your reply Liam. I hope this isn't too much a derailing of the topic. The primary role of Micras is neither realistic geophysical simulation, something that really appeals to few directly (i.e. as something they would, say, move to the GSO for) and concerning which the expertise required is held by even fewer, who generally have better things to do (GSO again); nor status, and your repeated use of the word 'clique' doesn't justify this loaded label. The word 'clique' implies a closed group, aiming to or actually exerting influence - making rules, wielding power. I don't think this is an accurate description of what joining Micras means. Micras has many cliques. Micras is the basis for a community. Rules are made by a joint deliberative process involving many interested groups - it's not a party of four people deciding DnD rules in their basement, it's... a larger group of people voting on DnD rules at a convention.
No, Micras' main role - one that it has slowly achieved by precedent and prestige, defeating all comers until it will be inevitably superceded - is providing context. And when we're talking about state simulations, where we simulate government, national populations, cultures, and everything that goes along - from legislative debate to grand fictional and semi-fictional histories, from RecWars to Stormark's more lively content, from statistical demographics to descriptions of individuals and their lives - the most sensible common backdrop is a physical reality in which to situate those features. Sending a diplomat into the nether isn't common context. The context is fluid; you don't have to participate in the economics or trading of resources, you can focus on parliament or on mythology, on infrastructure and orbats or philosophy and religion. But we can locate one another in a simulation beyond the internet. We can become immersed, not only in our own national simulations, but a whole world. The MTO doesn't offer anything like that. Without the Micran context, what issues of common concern are there? Are we to be like MicroWiki nations, declaring verbal war and editing pages to say we conquer various areas? If you think RecWar is simply a war of words, I admit it strictly is. But the rules which you so abhor give coherence to the story, and lends artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative. The MTO, in fact, is highly reliant on the Micran context - I said Gotzborg's membership was bizarre for this reason. The MTOCLOS is a great collaborative effort - pointless outside of the Micran simulation. Nothing else of note has happened there besides letting in and letting out alive/dead nations and voting in occasional officers. Other potential ventures, such as the Courts which might survive without Micras, have floundered; the Forum Weapons convention is archaic.
No offence intended at all to your or Gotzborg. I have no say in your national destiny, I'm not tapped in to the internal rumblings of the Aufsatz corridors of power. But the MTO is a nice stepping stone for full re-engagement with the community - in my view, a backwards one, but I dare not complain about technicalities concerning the prospect of a return of Gotzborg to the majoritarian clique.

I am NOT my brother, by God's blood. We may share a house, a room, and even a computer, but we are two distinctly separate people.Orion wrote:This whole thing stinks of papelism. I'm not buying a word of it. Charles, and all his purported citizens and kin, are likely one person seeking attention by making himself appear the victim.
To be entirely honest, I don't care what anyone here thinks of me or of my kingdoms. You can say that all of us are one person, it doesn't matter to me or my Government. It is the senseless comments like these, from those who are not part of our culture, that turned my Government and me against the online world.

Anyway: I really don't care that you are smelling troll. I know the truth about how many real people we are, so what do I care what you think? If you believe me about that, I couldn't care less.

Sorry, that's bollocks. You have absolutely no relation to the old Nova England, nor to Mercury, let alone have any right to their old lands...New Victoria wrote:Actually...no.
We are the Rightful Heir & Successor to ALL of the land that was formerly called Nova England. See my address to the people thread for more details. We have also not withdrawn from Micras.

I don't know what you've been smoking, but you never have and never will have any claim on NOVA ENGLAND. You're nothing but a troll, and this community will be better off when you leave.

Oh I reckon he should stay around. We haven't had as much fun with a delusional since the old Aster v Kovac and Kolya bust ups.
But I am intrigued as to the legal reasoning behind the claim to Nova England which I can't see in the other thread. Lawyer me, George of New Victoria.

It is rather entertaining. Brings back fond memories of the early days of the community.Lord_Montague wrote:Oh I reckon he should stay around. We haven't had as much fun with a delusional since the old Aster v Kovac and Kolya bust ups.

Re: Final Update from New Victoria
Since the legal system here, where I am apparently denied my right to New England, is so twisted and complex, I have resolved:
-To declare myself Supreme Overlord & Administrator General of the Planet Mircas
-To form my own Council of loyal subjects to advise me therein.
-To declare this website and its administrator(s) to be the holders of illegitimate power.
I shall create a new website for the true Government if Micras over the weekend.

Neither do you have any relation to the original rulers. And what's more, you've destroyed the royal family and converted the country to a republic - the most corrupt of all forms of government.joefoxon wrote:I don't know what you've been smoking, but you never have and never will have any claim on NOVA ENGLAND.
