I believe that it's only illegal in some states though, right? I mean most courts probably don't force you anyhow, but technically I think it is allowed de jure by the Feds.Rook wrote:Well I can speak for America and swearing by the Bible in court isn't how it's done and it's been a decade since it was made illegal to force someone to do so. You are asked to speak the truth, and you can either swear by god or you can make a secular affirmation.

Can we be sure that N.V. will last this time?

Yes, it will. I should point out that the continued existence of New Victoria has never been in question. Whether offline or online, it has continued to grow and evolve. In fact, after the whole off-line issue, Parliament consented to going back online, but insisted that new measures be taken to ensure that New Victorian culture would be preserved.Jack Mounford wrote:Can we be sure that N.V. will last this time?
That's actually why the Oath of Allegiance needs to be taken verbatim now, as well as why all citizens' names must be of either French or British origin, and are subject to government approval.
Similarly, The Currency Act (2012), which linked New Victoria to the SCUE system, was repealed automatically by The Nullification Act (2013). After much debate, we have decided not to reissue The Currency Act (2012), but instead to enact The Monetary Act (2013), which creates a local currency unique to our Kingdom, although it will share a 1:1 exchange rate with New France. So the only online thing that we are repudiating is the SCUE system.

No, it isn't done. No where in America do you not have the choice to affirm instead of swear. Period.Charles I wrote:I believe that it's only illegal in some states though, right?
