They really want New Victoria to be an offline nation.

Y'know, you don't have to be entirely online or offline. If y'want to try and find a middle ground to try and end this ridiculous situation, that is...

Where are you based offline? Just so we can send the storm troopers in and all that...

This is stupid. We live in the fucking digital age people. Really, is this under discussion? Seriously, who doesn't have a website? Businesses, governments, departments of government, grandmothers, grandmothers's cats all have websites. Even the Federated States of Micronesia has a blasted website. When did having a web presence suddenly become counter productive? This has to be one of the most mouth-gaping-intelligence-sapping kind of non-issue madness since Kovac stopped posting all the time.
Sorry to hear about the coup and all, but I say you should throw a party now that you're free of these luddites. Your people are idiots. Get new ones, or partner up with someone here and laugh as they self destruct. Hell, just start New Victoria over again with new passwords, what are they going to do? If they go online to protest they are breaking their own laws.

Yeah, New England is what they're calling Mercury's region of Nova England while apparently trying to claim it... at the same time as severing all ties with Micras?
Re: Final Update from New Victoria
Pardon, New Victoria. Edit made.
Point still stands.

I do think the wording and tone are a little harsh here, but this whole situation is astouding. It is profoundly embarrassing for the nation and its king. It brings Micras and our community into disrepute. For the same reasons I don't believe MicroWiki nations add much to this community without significant transformation, I don't give much thought to secessionist and RL-based micronations. Sure, for academic interest, they are worth knowing about, but their way of doing things is so drastically different from our own that real dialogue and community interaction is impossible. They are not part of our sector, and as much as we need (a) people (b) active people and most crucially (c) good quality people, as the King and other court members of New Victoria seemed to be, we shouldn't bend ourselves to accommodate them. I believe in innovation, I believe that if we're not expanding we're collapsing, I believe we need to attract more people. But creative and community endeavours - such as, for example, Meekras on Minecraft - are the right vehicles for the sort of people I would like to see as part of the Micran community. I think it's a bit of a joke when nations like Réunion are on our map - what do they actually get out of it? But then, Gotzborg seem to get something out of their bizarre participation in the Micras Treaty Organisation despite only being a (highly) esteemed former member rather than current claimant. Rant over.Rook wrote:This is stupid. We live in the fucking digital age people. Really, is this under discussion? Seriously, who doesn't have a website? Re: Final Update from New Victoria
The success of the old League of Micronations was that it was an inclusive organization that allowed micronations from across the board, regardless of ties to a fictional map or to a belief in secessionism, to work together on common matters (which there will always be, regardless of how different the core philosophy in the micronation is). This is a success that no IMO has been able to achieve since because they're always incorrectly focused on "you must be a member of clique XYZ". Gotzborg joined the MTO because it wanted to participate in an intermicronational organization that did not (perhaps by accident) close the doors on participation because of something as silly as "You're not holding land on fictional map ABC," or force us into accepting a policy platform that we didn't want to internally embrace. But then, Gotzborg seem to get something out of their bizarre participation in the Micras Treaty Organisation despite only being a (highly) esteemed former member rather than current claimant.
The internal geophysical structure of Gotzborg was well developed before we ever joined Micras and our "history" is tied to it. Why should we be forced to give up our history and that internal geophysical/political structure and be made to hold land on Micras - a map which has always been nothing more than a status system rather than a truly functional global geophysical simulation - just to interact with our colleagues at the intermicronational level?
As I said, by accident perhaps, the MTO is the most inclusive IMO in operation, and it would be a shame for it to force participation on the Micras map onto micronations that need a place to gather to discuss issues of common interest without having to throw away their own identity to join the majority clique.
On a more related note, I will be disabling New Victoria's new hosting account later today unless Charles plans to take the advice given and start things anew himself.

We are the Rightful Heir & Successor to ALL of the land that was formerly called Nova England. See my address to the people thread for more details. We have also not withdrawn from Micras.

To: The Lord Protector of Uantir,
Your advice is nothing short of advising the former King to commit high treason against his Lawful Sovereign. My Governments shall give you 3 days to publicly repudiate yourself of this remark, before deciding to declare war against you.
Good Day,

This whole thing stinks of papelism. I'm not buying a word of it. Charles, and all his purported citizens and kin, are likely one person seeking attention by making himself appear the victim.
