Realm of Passas
Hello everyone. As you may or may not know, Passas, which is nowadays the southernmost region of Hamland, has a long history on Micras dating all the way back to version 9.4. It never became very popular globally, Passas, but it did manage to foster close relationships with nations like Craitland, Novatainia and Toketi (now Gralus), Interland, and Hamland. After the nation's civil war, these alliances sort of fell apart, and Passas was absorbed into the CoG after falling inactive. It enjoyed brief independence from Gralus, before again falling inactive and being absorbed by Hamland, where it remains to this day.
Now, I thought about restarting Passas a while ago, under this moniker, Acheavahng. At the time, my intent was to start a civil war which would result in Passasian independence from Hamland. It didn't go very well. No one really noticed, and I got bored. Passas remained under Hammish rule, and probably for the best. Hamland has made a really admirable commitment to my country, and I am thankful for what they've done, and for their patience.
That said, I've recently gotten back into the hobby, and for the past two years I've worked very hard developing a culture that can be applied to a Micrasian nation. Satisfied with the material I've compiled, I checked back into Hamland's forum to see how they were doing. To my (not) surprise, there was a post about how the Passasian free societies were being closed. I tried to register, to express my sentiment that such an act would be supported by the people of Passas, but my registration was never approved. I registered again today, hoping they see it and approve me. At this point in time, the Passasian people are not being represented in the Hammish government, and I'd like that to change.
That said, since I can't post my material on Hamland's forum, I've decided to restart the old Passasian board. As you'll see when you check it out, I'm planning on really fleshing out this country. Admittedly, it isn't really Passas anymore. The Republic and the Free Societies are relics of a bygone age, and I have no intention of reincarnating them. Left in relative isolation for the past few centuries, the culture of my people has changed and shifted into something entirely different. It still calls itself Passas, but this is really where the similarities stop. Whereas once it was a nation which prided itself on republican principals, it's now a theocratic monarchy unlike any other place on Micras (to the extent that I'm aware).
So, to wrap it up, I invite you to stop by and see what I'm working on. At this point, I don't know if Passas will attempt to regain it's sovereignty or if it's people will migrate, or if it will remain a Hammish province. I do know that there is currently a Passasian King, who most Passasians view as the rightful ruler of the realm. Hopefully, when and if tensions arise over this detail, the Hammish and Passasian governments can agree to a friendly solution which upholds their longstanding brotherhood.
Anyway, here's a link to the Passasian forum. I invite you to come and check out what I've got going on. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this project develops.

My dear friend:
We had hard problems in Hamland with spambots (almost a hundred register everyday!)
We have our open arms to welcome you to our forum once again! And, of course, Passassian culture is safe in Hammish Lands, and awaits you to continue the glorious history, under the Regional Development Act, which helps you to have all the tools, so you can fully develop it!
Please, PM me the nick you registered and will grant you access to our forum!

Re: Realm of Passas
Thanks, I'm confident that it will. I've been working on this material for quite a while, and am just now getting around to organizing all of it in a tidy manner.
Acheavahng is not my preferred title, but I didn't want to register a new account. If it's possible to change it, I'd like to go by Duke Sinclair.

I don't know when the free societies were closed... I'll argue for them to be reopened though as it made the country a lot more interesting.
Also, I can't log in again. I fact the whole log in bit is really difficult... Can we change that?

I don't believe they were ever officially closed. I know that there's been talk of wanting to close them, but no legislation has been passed or proposed. At least as far as I'm aware.Gordoth wrote:I don't know when the free societies were closed... I'll argue for them to be reopened though as it made the country a lot more interesting.
That said, I would not be opposed to having them re-labelled on the map. Their symbols no longer really represent their nature. Nowadays, they're merely the private property holdings of the nation's most powerful nobles. To summarize the past centuries of Passasian history, the Free Societies fostered a rapid evolution of the Pallisican faith, which resulted in the rise of feudalism. The current Passasian King is the descendent of a king who conquered feudal Passas in the year 4847 ASC. The nobles who own the Societies, are the high priests of the religion known as Carol Pallisican, of which the king is the figurehead. In Passas today, the Free Societies function as the faith's spiritual centers, while the cities function as the centers of the region's secular government.
The Societies really are an integral part of Passasian culture. They have existed for approximately half of the region's existence. I believe they'd be more appropriately labelled as parks, or reservations, though I will not be the one to propose this legislation. The nobles would not be pleased if I were to motion to alter the status of their property holdings.

Re: Realm of Passas
The societies were a compromise as far as I recall as there was a problem with administering an anarchist state so we agreed to create communes. Political theory wise it was an interesting exercise.
What is fair is to treat states as you would want your own to be treated! I'm sure we can alter things appropriately.
Also, @duke_j; the emails of the millions joining the board are my current pet hate haha

Re: Realm of Passas
Indeed. I think that the Free Societies really embody the relationship between our nations.
