Uantiri Calendar
In following with Uantir's staunch religious neutrality I have decided that it is unconscionable to continue to follow a calendar that is rooted in Christianity.
The major question is, what benchmark does one use to start a new calendar? The two that jump out at me are the date of Uantir's inception, and the year Her Majesty and I were born.
I like the latter, as this nation has and probably always will be just her and I. The current year is 26 URC (Uantiri Royal Calendar). Going into the past, instead of having a 'before' moniker, the calendar will simply be indicated with a negative (-) sign. There is no year zero. Year 1 in the URC is 1987 CE. 1986 CE is -1 URC.
Notable dates in URC.
-3586 URC the foundation of Greek civilization
-532 URC the printing press was invented
-69 URC WWI Ends
-42 URC WWII Ends
-27 URC the silicon chip is invented
1 URC Their Majesties were born
10 URC Princess Diana dies
14 URC the twin towers fall

Re: Uantiri Calendar
I quite like the A.S.C. calender, where every day equals a year. It's nice for rp purposes. When I need to cover a lot of time, like the period between the Republic and the Kingdom, I use A.S.C, so that Passas ends up being ~3000 years old, whereas in real time it turns 7 years old in 15 days.
Here's a link, if you don't know about A.S.C.: http://shireroth.org/asc/asc.html

Uantir is only pseudo simulationist. It doesn't purport to have history 3000 years back.

Pseudo simulationist? What does that mean?

Re: Uantiri Calendar
We're not 100% make believe. We're more of a literary project and as such we require the suspended disbelief that the hundreds of thousands if not millions of 'people' needed for a realistic government to function exist if even as nameless masses. We do not, in any way, make any claims over real land (though I did quite enjoy flying our flag from the truck of our friend's Catalina 36 sailboat one day while we spent the weekend on King's Harbor in California) though we try to base cultural devices off of the territory claimed by the Micras map as our topography. So we're simulationist of course, but we don't play around with the calendar. We're quite comfortable with the fact that Uantir started exactly when it did. We try not to be boastful by adding achievements or feats that didn't actually happen, or attribute ideas and projects to people that didn't participate or don't exist. While I understand why people create proxy personas on the internet for privacy reasons (I did so myself, I don't know if you remember me before I was Rook) we don't pretend we're people we're not, use actual politician's photos as our avatars, or claim political affiliations with nations we've never actually been in contact with, both macro and micronationally. While I did have a story in the writing about 'The Old Ones' which detailed the indigenous cultures to the land Uantir now claims (while taking into account micronations that proceeded it on that spot, as much info as I could actually obtain) it was not a history of Uantir so much as a simulated history of the region that was the cradle of Uantir and a highly stylized rendition of how I believe Uantir could have come to be in that context. Similar to how the history of various Native American tribes is not, technically, USA history but they set the stage for American colonization and expansion. I never published it because I never finished writing it. I wasn’t sure anyone was going to read it, so I lost motivation.
That last sentence is a bit telling actually, now that I read over it and introspect, as to a lot of my recent motivational issues regarding my involvement in this hobby lately.

Re: Uantiri Calendar
I see. Pseudo Simulationist sounded kind of funky, that's why I asked. But what you've said does make sense, and I can relate to a certain extent. When I say that Passas has a history that goes back 3,000 years, it's not because I'm uncomfortable admitting that it's really only 7 years old, but rather that the nation has changed so much that it doesn't make sense to confine it to those seven years. I mostly use Passas for my own literary purposes, and as a means of learning about politics, economics, and government in general. I don't pretend that Passas is anything but what it is, but I'm also careful to draw a distinction between pretend Passas, which is this ancient nation which has a very tumultuous history, and real Passas, which is a force which guides my personal worldview. I'm obviously, overtly American, but I'm secretly Passasian.
