Re: Coprieta Standard updates
If you feel the CS doesn't cover all the micronational activity that concerns our sector, which I imagine it could never do in its current one-man-band form, I urge you to bring these other lands into the public eye through a regularly-updated journalistic outlet of your own. Genuinely, it's a rewarding experience and enriches us all. I look at the Standard as very high quality but low frequent output; the frequency has greatly increased lately, but a choice of papers/blogs covering different areas and sectors would only benefit our community.Duke Sinclair wrote:I'm not picking on you when I say this, but I'm getting a bit tired of constantly reading about the Bastion Union. Every once in a while, I'd really like to read about Uantir and Juclandia and Tiana. Who the hell is Tiana? Surely they've got things going on.
Edit: Looking at the Standard's word-cloud thing, among the largest words are non-Bastion nations like Gotzborg and Alexandria (as well as Liam Sinclair, whoever he is). The paper may aim to cover general news but one of the ways I used it is as a way of hearing about current events specifically in the countries that the editor has a close personal interest.

Re: Coprieta Standard updates
The word cloud isn't very accurate about the Standard's articles unfortuantely, as the other 1000+ articles in the archives from a range of publications skew it greatly (only 300 articles of the archive belong to the Standard). Old publications of mine from early 2000s tended to focus more on the micronations I was involved in, though since relaunching the Standard last year, I've purposely avoided such, but it'll be a long time before it reflects in the tag cloud. I really hate that thing to be honest, but it seems like a necessity since I'm slowly transforming all the per-nation categories into tags instead. Once I finish adding the remainder of the Fireball archives, and get around to the Skyline archives, the historic balance of the archive will improve immensely.

Well clearly not. I wasn't agreeing with the statement; just correcting it in a popular culture-referential way...Jack wrote:Sherlock and Mycroft are not the same person.Craitman wrote:They're the Sherlock and Mycroft of MicrasJezza Rasmus wrote:Please don't argue, I have long decided you two are the same person.

Re: Coprieta Standard updates
I've found a Tag Cloud plugin that allows me to filter the tags so that they only reflect the Coprieta Standard's archive, and allows for a time-limit, making the tag cloud more reflective of the current reality of the database, rather than everything from 2000 onwards. I think that would provide a more accurate guide to the Standard's coverage (I've set it to use tags in the last year)?

Update: The Standard One-on-One: Vilhelm Benkern
(An excellent and comprehensive read. I can't remember the last time I had to add so many tags to an article!)

Re: Coprieta Standard updates
Just to clarify my earlier statement, I really do appreciate the work done by the Standard and other similar news outlets. Though I haven't the will or ability to produce articles of particularly high quality, I attempt to do my part by remaining active in whatever ways I can.

If you want to hear from Tiana, Juclandia, Indokistan, Lostisland and Sirocco, I can happily direct you to them. Or if you want to hear from us Senyans, I'd love to be interviewed
