La Scopiedh
La Scopiedh [la Scop-eed], or the Scope in English, will be the Hammish based newspaper bringing information about the developments in Hamland and countries which are culturally and politically close to the Commonwealth. I will just put stories in this thread rather than a separate site.
People can feel free to become a journalist for La Scopiedh if they like. Just send me a pm.

Patrovan President Departs
President Elvis announced today that he would stand aside as leader of the country if a new challenger appeared. The President explained this as being due to the fact that he 'cannot fulfil the role properly due to other commitments'. Patrova has fallen in activity lately forcing the President to continue acting as an interim leader until a new head of state can be found.
Neo Patrova is a younger nation which has formed around its market mainly. Recently there has been little activity in the country obsessed with 'Freedom' leading some to question whether the state will survive into the realm of being an established Micran state or whether it will be a short term failed experiment.
Commonwealth of Hamland announce Space Program
Prime Minister Lewis announced the creation of Hamland's newest Space program which will be based at a former cold-war naval base in the Iridian Islands.
The launch comes as the Commonwealth seeks to increase its influence and activity in the medium term by building projects which will boost activity and create interest about the state. This comes after the Kingdom of Hamland recently reformed itself into a Commonwealth with fewer, more autonomous, regions and a proposed reunification of Monovia.
Hamland has had two failed attempts at creating a stable space authority in the past with neither being able to create a rocket which could leave the atmosphere of Micras. Astronauts The new "Hermes Program" aims to correct this by putting a Passilican and Hamlander into orbit in the near future using old Cold-War technology.
'Hermes 1' is based off of the original 'Pencil Missile' or 'Miolapado' in Hammish. The missile was originally intended as a deterrent against the threat of Ocian invasion or bombing and was used once to shoot down an Ocian Missile entering Hammish Airspace. The facility which constructed the Miolapado has since come under the control of civilians who will aim to put a citizen of the Commonwealth on Tarsica and eventually even plant a base on Micras' moon.

Prime Minister to Stand Down on Anniversary
Serving Prime Minister of the Commonwealth Hamland, Lewis, has announced that henwill stand down as Prime Minister on the 7th anniversary of the founding of Hamland. He said that it was an "honour, as always" to serve in the country which he was previously King of.
Hamland has undgone a transformation in recent weeks with a new system of administration, a space programme, the reopening of the state University and, most importantly, the creation of the Commonwealth of Hamland. His Liberal Party is expected to keep him as leader and sit in the house as part of a ruling coalition.
Duke Sinclair, founder of Passas, has expressed interest in taking over the reigns of power following Lewis' departure. It is likely that Duke Sinclair will recieve wide support having already fained the backing of the Liberal Party.

Following news of the end of Ashkenatza; a flag has been erected in the Commonwealth's majority Jewish city Judah. Ashkenatza has been a close ally of Hamland for many years having shared military bases and fought together against Hamland's historic rival Ocia. It will be maintained by he local administration there alongside the Hammish and Commonwealth flags.
University of New Kirrie reopened
After being closed for 2 years, the national University of Hamland has reopened. Departments covering language, literature and history have opened. The Government inten to use the University to increase the understanding of the history, customs and culture of the Commonwealth.
Research in the history department has shed light on Hamland's old religious system involving a 'sacred steed'. The language department intends to spark a resurgeance in the Hammish Language with the literature department currently looking into historical documents from Hamland and Passas.

Hamland marks 7th Anniversary
Hamland marks their 7th year since being founded on September 12th 2006. Celebrations happened across the country who have continually inhabited their corner of Keltia since mid-2007.
The anniversary marks a change of power too with the Commonwealth's Prime Minister, Lord Lewis, standing down in favour of Duke Sinclair of Passas.

Bulletins
Commonwealth aims for second space mission - the Hamland Space Bureau has released updates on its next mission which will orbit both Micras and Tarsica and return to the seas outside of its base. The mission is the next step on the mission to land Commonwealth Citizens on Tarsica and erect the flag of the Commonwealth.
Treaty of Union proposed between Patrova and the Commonwealth - A treaty of Union has been proposed between Patrova and the Commonwealth. This move, which has been in the pipeline for some time, has occurred after reluctance from President Elvis due to it possibly looking like a method of back door expansion. Patrova is now well over a year old and has been inactive for a number of months and faced a choice between closing down or being preserved through the Commonwealth's Membership policy.
Elections set for start of November - Serving Prime Minister, Duke Sinclair of Passas, has begun his campaign for re-election in the new monthly elections to the Hammish Parliament. His party, the Pasillican Imperialist Party, was founded on a policy of expansion of Commonwealth power and territory. The PIP faces tough opposition from previous Prime Minister, Lord Lewis of the Isles, whose Social Liberal Party has adopted a more regionalised approach to campaigning with a strategy centered on the Isles and Schoenland. Hamland's consensus based political system will mean that whoever loses will still have a central place in the government.
University Research into History makes big discoveries - The discovery of previously deleted forums on archive websites has allowed the University of New Kirriemuir to publish new data on what policies, parties and institutions existed in Hamland during 2010. The country has moved forum several times over the years meaning that many aspects of Hammish culture, such as the extensive language, have been lost. The finding of archives has been the first step in unlocking Hamland's history which can form the basis of a comprehensive study of the state's evolution.
The University has unearthed old threads through looking through early comment records on the Micras Hub, which has allowed greater analysis of crises during the time of the United Commonwealth. Studying the reasons for the rise and fall of the UC is of great interest to Hammish policy makers who wish to avoid repeating past mistakes.
A new treasure trove is expected to be unearthed when access can be gained to Hamland's first forum which contains information on some of its most early claims, unions and relations with others. This forum is expected to hold the country's first dictionary, a whole story of the UC as well as various forgotten aspects of Hammish society.

Duke Sinclair wins elections - The first simulated elections in the Commonwealth gave the PIP a plurality of seats in a shock twist of events leaving the Social Liberals out of government for another term. The HNP fared poorly outside of the ethnically Hammish regions but their vote held up in these regions due to the performance of the national team in the recent world cup. Due to boundary changes all parties made gains, but the PIP made the most gains giving it the support of the other parties to form a government. The next elections are due at the start of December.
Hammish Language makes a comeback - The University of New Kirrie has been funding research into modern Hammish. This research has sparked a rejuvination of the language which went dead following the end of the previous iteration of forums. This rejuvination has had an effect of the Common Language Act being the first to carry its name in both English and Hammish in a number of years.
Transport maps show the cities and peoples of the Commonwealth - Following the publishing of the transport map of the Region of the Isles other regions have followed suit showing some of the details of the Commonwealth's cities. The massive growth of New Kirrie can be seen in the under construction Hammish map, the societies of Passas featured on the Passian map and the revival of Scottania/Petrynsk could be seen through their recent map/
Activity Report shows sustained increase - The Commonwealth is experiencing another boom time with a recent report showing that cultural development as well as posting activity has reached levels not seen for some time. The country has performed well for 4 months with numerous large developments in culture taking place including a return to political simulation as well as the cultural development of Schoenland, Scottania/Petrynsk and the Islands.

From the Daily Pallisican:
http://www.mncommunities.org/hamland/fo ... 2500#p2500Apollonian Refugees Arrive in Kydros
December 13: At 4:30 this afternoon, 5,500 Apollonian refugees filed off of a cargo ship owned by Wallis Shipping Co. into the city of Port Karsten, in the Region of the Isles, where they have begun the process of receiving temporary residency permits. Prime Minister Sinclair issued a brief statement to mark the arrival of the refugees from the region controlled by the Empire of Jingdao.
"I welcome all of those people who have finally reached this great land in their attempt to escape from the merciless tyranny of the Empire of Jingdao, and I thank the Captain and crew of WSC-004, and the President of Wallis Shipping Co. for agreeing to take part in this costly mission. The cooperation on behalf of all parties is greatly appreciated."
Though the exact origin of the refugees has not yet been confirmed, they are believed to have fled from Khodastan, the Southern region of Jingdao's mainland territory. This region has recently come under brutal assault by the increasingly war-weary Jingdaoese armed forces. Jingdao's assault on the region has sparked violence against people of Jingdaoese origin, in places such as Aryasht.
"Once again, I urge the government of Jingdao to put an immediate halt to its campaign against the peoples of Southeastern Apollonia," said Prime Minister Sinclair in response to the escalating conflict around Jingdao's Apollonian campaign. "It is my grave concern that we stand on the brink of a brutal conflict, the likes of which have never been seen on Micras. In order to avoid this conflict, the government of Jingdao must put an end to its genocide. In the mean time, I encourage all concerned nations to come to the Commonwealth of Hamland, to take part in a summit on the matter."

Re: La Scopiedh
We thank Hamland for taking in those refugees. Our priests couldn't handle the large amount of sacrifices for the purification ceremonies anymore and we're happy to see that Hamland is temporarily taking in those population surpluses.

Hamland - PM puts consensus at heart of Christmas Speech
Have decided to make a site for our paper. I intend on expanding our coverage and keeping our news bulletins as I think that is a key feature of this paper.
I have made a site as the changes in the Hammish economy mean that La Scopiedh can become a good investment opportunity. If you want to help with it please get in touch!

BULLETINS 30/12/13
Added a few bulletin stories. I intend to do this just to force me to keep checking other boards and also to give a bit of publicity to some other countries. I don't have the time to write big in depth articles frequently sadly, so I hope this is useful.
