Awarding of the 2013 Fnords

Re: Awarding of the 2013 Fnords
Thank you so much! I can't believe I won the award for Cultural Development. It really means a lot to me... especially since I think of the jumble that is Natopia as being too disjointed and fractured to accurately put down in words. It has flown off on so many tangents, always trying to find that uniquely Natopian "thing." For this to be recognized (even just to be nominated! Thank you Ric and CJ!) is just amazing. It has given me a renewed vigor to keep going. Thank you very much to the committee members for the votes of confidence in not only me, but all the many (real) people who have been woven into Natopia's history.
Congratulations to the other FNORD winners too! I am in very good company this year.

Re: Awarding of the 2013 Fnords
Dear Community,
I am most humbled and honoured to have been nominated this year, let alone receive and share the FNORD for Graphic Artz with Shyriath. Having looked at the people up for the award, I am amazed to have won.
As some of you may or may not be aware, my mother passed away on 2 January with her family at her side. Although none of us, including my mum, Thank god, thought she was nearing the end, she was not very well at all. The majority of November/December my mum moved in with me and my girlfriend and we looked after her as best we could.
I get my creativity and artistic eye from my mum. In those final months I got to spend with her she would often find me on the computer designing something or other and my focus at that time was micronational coats of arms, shields, maps, crowns etc. Obviously trying to explain what this hobby was all about was never the easiest, for most people it can be a little out there. She may not have understood the hobby, but she was pleased to see me using my creative side and coming up with designs etc.
Like all mothers, she would keep everything from my swimming certificate at the age of 5, right through to my university degree. She even kept a hold of the two FNORD medals from 2010!! No matter how small or large an achievement, parents are always proud of what we as their kids do and what we achieve.
Yes! being given a FNORD is nice, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a bit of fun, nothing to get too worked up about lol. However, I simply cannot, in my current circumstances express enough how much this award means to me. This award is for work that my mother got to see, that my mother was kind of part of and as I look back on those final days and months it's work that put a smile on my mums face. Whenever I think about the 2013 FNORD's for years to come I'll remember the joy and the smile my mother had to see me using my creativity.
For this reason, this award will stay dear to my heart for the rest of my life. It has become so much more than a token gesture.
I would like to thank all those who nominated me and to the committee for seeing fit that I should share this award with Shyriath. I'd also like to congratulate all those who were nominated in all fields and to the other worthy recipients.
For me, no words will ever be enough to show my gratitude, I am truly humbled and honoured.
Thank you all
