Consular Order Number 1, Series 2015.

I, Jaime Augustin Joaquin Primo de Aguilar, current Second Consul and President of the Government of the Empire of the Alexandrians by virtue of existing Alexandrian law, on this the 26th of July, 2015, do hereby invoke Article 5 of the Regency Act of 2014:

Article 5. In the event of tumult where the Palace of the Tuileries and the Empire shall be inaccessible, the Imperial Assembly shall immediately convene at the premises of the Imperial Alexandrian Embassy in the High Realm of Stormark, in accordance with its rules, and thereafter sit and conduct business until otherwise provided by the Imperial Assembly, the Lord Protector, the Regent, or the Emperor.

Where there shall be no Consulate, it shall be the duty of all members of the Council of State and all Deputies of the Imperial Assembly to ensure the proper implementation of this Act.

The Imperial Assembly has convened in the Imperial Alexandrian Embassy in the Imperial City of Haraldsborg to discuss the situation Alexandria currently is in.

I was away for the weekend, it looks like the web host killed my account because it got hacked and a lot of the sites I host were infected with malware. They said they had to pull the plug on it because the malware compromised the reputation of their servers, etc... whatever. I have been speaking to them in spurts throughout the day and have not been able to reach any sort of resolution. They explain to me that the only way to fix this is for me to delete the files that have been infected, which they have made a list of here.

The Haifan forums, the Genevan Arrow site, the Mercury forums and some other personal projects are affected by this. Quite unsure about how to proceed. They're telling me I can pay for SiteLock for what is an ungodly amount of money a year to delete the files and protect the sites for one year. Not the most tech savvy guy here... so trying to figure out what to do at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

As this seems to have affected most wordpress php-files, but nothing else, my method would be:

- change passwords to your database and server
- download the databases (also the forums, just in case) and images to your own pc
- also download all the files, but do not use these, just as a backup. your pc won't run php so it can't do any harm there.
- remove all wordpress files from the server
- re-install wordpress and restore the databases and images
- update the database info for the forums as well because we changed the password for that.
- keep wordpress up to date next time

Alternative solution: do not selfhost wordpress but use the wordpress.com service, which I think is free for most uses. You won't have to bother with security issues yourself then.
