Awarding of the Fnords 2015
Dear Friends
A few days later than expected, we are able to celebrate those who have been awarded the Fnords for their work in 2015.
But first, the award for overall achievement. Almost fourteen years ago, a young boy announced to the micro-world that he was the King of the Union of Madland. Although Madland was ridiculed in its early days, the country -- which save for some time as an Antican province and as a Storish protectorate -- has consistently remained independence. Without its emperor (or king in early days), Alexandria could not have evolved to be to what it is today. Emperor Edgard II has steered Alexandria through almost a decade and a half, and made Alexandria a country of repute and with a unique cultural identity and history. Emperor Edgard II is therefore given this award.
Far away from Alexandria, in the north-western parts of Apollonia, lies a small forest-covered country known as Gerenia. Often overlooked by the major players of Micras, Gerenia's quietness and stillness should not be a hindrance to take part in its cultural richness. Gerald Ruze of Gerenia has written many deep articles for MicrasWiki on matters of the country of Gerenia. From reading these articles, a traveller to Gerenia will be able to know how high Tankberg, the highest mountain is (2,225 m), or how nationalism and sport in the country are related. By visiting the traditional shrines of the Gerenians, the traveller will understand how the Nature Forces interact to make things in the world happen. These are only a few examples of a rich corpus of texts of Gerenia. Reading these makes us all want to visit and experience that country. For those reasons, Gerald Ruze is given the Award for Cultural Development.
Going west from Gerenia to Shireroth, another Wiki work deserves recognition. Ever since Hallbjörn Haraldsson began working on codifying the history of Elwynn to the ShireWiki, a history that is fictionally based on real events with the unique Elwynnese calendar (one real-life month equals one in-game year), numerous articles on Elwynn's history have been written to Shireroth's wiki. This makes us give Hallbjörn Haraldson the Award for History. Future generations of micronationalists, historians especially, will be grateful for the work that he has done.
Let us for a moment stay in Shireroth. While going over the impressive bulk of literature that has been produced in our sector over the year, nothing has been as captivating as the stories of Miss Kizzy, written by Nathan. The Miss Kizzy stories are a light-hearted collection detailing the rise of Miss Kizzy from being the leader of the decadent city of Demonsfall in Goldshire (in Shireroth) to becoming the Kaiseress of all Shireroth. Nathan is therefore given the Award for Literature. The first batch of Miss Kizzy stories are as follows:
Miss Kizzy's Fantastic Journey
Miss Kizzy's Riverside Brawl
Miss Kizzy's Riverboat Jamboree
Miss Kizzy in the Grove of Lovers
Miss Kizzy makes Landfall
Miss Kizzy at the Gates
What happened in Lyhigh?
Whispers at night
Nathan, as Kizzy, was Kaiseress of Shireroth. During Kizzy's reign, the very future of Shireroth was at stake. But with her leadership, Shireroth was kept intact. Shireroth did not lose any land, but gained activity instead. Kizzy made Shireroth relevant again. In Natopia, Nathan, as Emperor Naian, steered the country through various changes. Always striving to strengthen and advance Natopia's special culture, Nathan helped reform the country's judicial system (by establishing an independent court of law). He made sure a comprehensive alliance with Alexandria became a reality, while Natopia's territories expanded all over Micras. The country even removed "Tapferite" from its official name to reflect the gains from Emperor Naian's reign. For that reason, Nathan is given the Award for Leadership.
In Shireroth, throughout the year, there have been numerous incidents. While Kizzy did manage to keep the country intact, people had already begun to leave the country. Krasniy Yastreb did so, after what appears to be personal disagreements with other Shirerithians, vowing not to be part of micronations. However, this injury to him would seem to have healed by now, 'tis but a flesh wound. he has returned to micronationalism and does regularly participate in a number of forums. The 'Tis but a Flesh Wound Award goes therefore to Krasniy Yastreb.
The Award for Sport is given to James-Robert Knight for consisting developing football and other sports in his country of Vyktory. That way, Vyktory has taken a prominent place in the FMF and in its cups.
The last award for 2015 is the one for journalism. This award is given to Liam Sinclair for never ceasing to give us articles from all over the microworld, insight on matters we had no idea about, and interviews with people from all parts of Micras and beyond. Liam has been a journalistic rock for the community over the year. We are forever grateful for his contributions to journalism.
Those were the awards for 2015.
On behalf of the Committee of Fnords, which I have chaired, and that consisted of three voting members, Orion, Jack and Craitman, I would like to invite you all to salute those who have been awarded.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees! And thanks to the judges for noticing my work (which is still not as great as I would like it to be)!

Congratulations to everyone! All well-deserved and hard-earned
I really enjoyed writing Kizzy's stories and really glad others did too Thank you!
In the thick of Shireroth's Dissolution Crisis I'm sure a sent a few people some PMs basically just mashing my face on the keyboard in exasperation/desperation. I'm glad that this strategy was seen as leadership by most others I think Shireroth is on a good path, a quieter path, but it needs that. I will now insist on Kizzy's epithet as "Savior of Shireroth" And Natopia had an outstanding year, I'm continually thankful for everyone that continues to put up with it

A hearty congratulations to all the winners!
Re: Awarding of the Fnords 2015
I've had other FNORDs, but I'm proudest of this one.
I'd like to thank the committee and all the people who have cranked my troll handle the past year... but most of all I would like to thank my guardian angels Rossheim and Shyriath, who in Minarboria have provided me with a suitable home in the same manner as a rehab clinic gives shelter to vomiting, cussing drunkards. Their temperament is kind, their patience is saintly and without them my continued presence in micronations would not be possible. Vivat Frutex.
Congrats to the winners... I guess this is a signal for us to get off our arses and see what Gerenia's all about.

This is unexpected, holy shit! I am so honored and humbled, thank you very much. This is awfully nice and I'm honored to receive this award.
Congratulations to all the other winners - all of you deserve it, and I am honored to see my name listed along side all of yours. You all have done amazing work, Harald kicked it out of the ballpark with his wiki edits. Every time he shares one with me on the Alexandrian chatroom, I know I am in for a good read. If my boss only found out how much I'm reading MicrasWiki at work... he'd blow the top off his head. Nathan, the Kizzy saga was a delight to see from far away and you definitely deserve the Leadership award, I don't think the Tapferite Pact would have moved forward without your effort and work (much less my own involvement in Natopia - special thanks to Ric on that one as well, of course)... and Yastreb, we boiiiiiiiiis, okay? I miss you. Seriously though - I need to pay more attention to Gerenia. Congratulations to them, and to Gerald Ruze. My heartfelt congratulations to Liam for his impeccable journalism, and to James-Robert Knight for his work on Vyktory. (Another nation to visit!)
Thank you for this honor.

Quite possibly the first time I've been called an angel in any context, but I appreciate the enthusiasm and/or vodka that brought forth that description.Yastreb wrote:but most of all I would like to thank my guardian angels Rossheim and Shyriath, who in Minarboria have provided me with a suitable home in the same manner as a rehab clinic gives shelter to vomiting, cussing drunkards.
