Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Dear all
It's time for the festive season again where we award our fellow micronationalists!
Standard categories have been (but feel free to suggest new ones):
most promising new micronationalist of the year
most promising new micronation of the year
journalism
economics
'Tis but a Fleshwound
leadership
Cultural Development
literature
history
best new idea
art
overall achievement
sports
I also ask for nominations for members in the committee (as usual I will chair but not vote in the committee unless a tie), nominations of categories, and nominations of persons and works in categories along with a motivation or proof!

Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Well as I've not done anything this year worthy of nomination, I may as well put my hat in as a judge
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
As a suggestion. They should be a sports award which has featured for the past few years.
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
I don't think I've had a particuarly special year and as I don't seem to be a polarising figure, I wouldn't mind being on the judging panel...
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
I nominate Jonas as most promising new micronationalist.
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Ardy for leadership as he has done the impossible with Shireroth, he is more or less successfully herding cats.
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Do you need more judges? If so, I volunteer as tribute! LOL

Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Some nominations:
Most Promising New Micronationalist: Duke Alecsi - Only joined in September, but his work on the wiki shames many of us who have been around so much longer.
Most Promising New Micronation: Caradia - A double-header with the above, Caradia's culture, history and lore have upped the game on what we could expect from a newcomer.
Journalism: The Aldurian Press - Alduria's media collator is the only thing I've seen putting out content that wouldn't be out of place in the golden era of journalism in this community.
'Tis but a Fleshwound: Shireroth - For being a literal homage to the Black Knight's losses of limbs.
Literature: The Micras Chessboard - Not sold on the title, but the work has been an interesting insight into the processes behind West Amokolia and, subsequently, Francia.
History: Timeline of Modern Benacia - Lovely diarising of the post-fracture developments by multiple people to help keep everything and everybody on track. Will be a helpful resource for many future Benacian endeavours, I'm sure.
Best New Idea: Alduria's leaders debate - Can't recall anything similar occurring before, nor whether this is the best category to nominate it for, but I thought it was a more interactive means of running an election than just generating seat charts.
Art: Malliki - Maybe not art in the traditional sense, but I've particularly enjoyed seeing his maps of Sanama this year.
Overall Achievement: Ric - Because he really should have got it last year, but he was unable to break the tie with myself. Conducăting things in northern Benacia brilliantly, considerable and frequent work on the wiki, and organises the FNORDs without fail every year.
Sport: FMF Elo Micras Rankings - Barnaby and I eventually updated the football rankings of the past 13 years. While the article probably doesn't do justice to the work the calculations entailed, we had to enter and record 4,300+ scores to generate ever-shifting ratings for 300+ teams between us!

Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
I also feel Jingdao should receive a FNORD for something.
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
Gustaaf Vermeylen for the Koningenwaarder Courant (journalism).
Re: Fnords 2019 [nominations!]
USSO for best functioning international organisation. It has been stable and active for a while now and remains relevant for the nations that participate in it.
