Happy Fnord Day!

Once again, we meet to celebrate the achievements of the past year. First of all I’d like to thank the jurors Edgard, Barnaby, and Joe for being such lovely jurors. All the love to them. I’d like to point out that none of them voted for themselves or their own countries in any category of any nomination.

We will begin with sport for a change, a topic that we not usually highlight very much in the Fnords. But the past year saw a lot of sport activity, especially in the realm of football. For that reason, the jury has decided to jointly award Barnaby and Craitman the Fnord for Sport. Craitman and Barnaby have painstakingly fleshed out the football rankings of the past thirteen – not Norton years but real – years. Over 4300 scores were used to generate ratings for over 300 teams. Amazing work. We salute the two for their work on the FMF Elo Micras Rankings.

The FMF Elo Micras Rankings were done on the MicrasWiki, which ove rthe past year has become the focus of the activity of our sector. After the Kalirion Fracture occurred (that no one nominated this event for best new idea is beyond me!), activity across Micras seemed to shift almost fully to the Wiki and Discord channels. On the MicrasWiki, we saw the history of modern Benacia written up, as it happened. It was exciting, full of plots and twists, and yet so simple to follow. For that reason, the MicrasWiki article Timeline of Modern Benacia is awarded the Fnord for History.

The Kalirion Fracture did not get a fnord for best new idea, which I am sorry for, but the jurors have seen fit to award Shireroth for the Fnord for ’Tis but a Fleshwound for simply staying there despite having had all its limbs cut off. I am sure that Micras’s oldest nation will remain for a very long time more on the MCS map, limbless perhaps, but still as annoyingly red.

With the Kalirion Fracture, many states became independent from Shireroth. Among these was Sanama whose gorgeous maps, designed with love and science, have wooed the jurors. They therefore award Malliki, creator of these maps, the Fnord for Art.

But all is not Shireroth-related! New nations have sprung up. Alduria, with its beaming political fever never seen before since the days of Alexandria, has impressed us with its leadership debates. Unique, engaging, and bringing people from near and far to enjoy the politics of this exotic Euran land. For that reason we award Alduria for the best new idea – for its leadership debates. Congratulations!

But the most impressive new micronation is by far Caradia. Constant never-ending activity led by the equally impressive Alecsi who already has begun cataloguing the cultural artefacts of the entire planet. We award Caradia the Fnord for Most Promising New Micronation and its creator Alecsi the Fnord for Most Promising New Micronationalist. Welcome to the Sector! And Congratulations!

But in terms of literature, we award an oldie the Fnord. Krasniy’s Tales of Kalgachia, the epic that has enthralled readers from Haraldsborg to Helderbourgh, just keeps on delivering. The chapters made in the past year have in terms of quality not met their match by any other work of literature. As such, we award Krasniy the Fnord for Literature.

Who has then led the sector the last year? It is, of course, Ardy, also known as Continuator, who has been the leader. Having steered the Kalirion Fracture, set up his own Black Legions-led country, managed to take on the princeship of Elwynn, become the Regent of the Sovereign Confederation, and yet, seemingly stay humble… That truly is the marksmanship of a leader. For that reason, we give him the Fnord for Leadership.

But who has made the greatest cultural mark? The answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind. It is Jonas. He had worked on the Leyl duchy, the Grand Atlas of Jingdao, and complied the history of Jingdao all the way back to Kildarian times. Thank you, Jonas, you’re lovely. A Fnord for cultural development to you!

Finally, the jurors decided to award me a Fnord for Overall Achievement. Not really sure what to make of that.

Thank you all! See you again next year <3

First, I would like to say congratulations to the other winners. They all definitely deserved the awards they were granted for their wonderful work.

Second, I would like to thank the jury for the awards given to myself and my nation. It is very surprising to me that I was considered over other micronations that joined this past year, but I find it a very exciting yet humbling prospect. I am very honoured by the award.

In fairness, dismembering the corpse of Shireroth was a team-effort. Well done the team.
