Funding and Administration
We need to work out what we're doing with this, I'm happy to host it, but is that all shiney with everyone else?
I can give mysql and FTP access to whatever administration we have, which brings us to the second point, administration
How will we organise the administration of this site, on MSN guido and I considered the idea of 3 unelected but chosen by unofficial public consensus administrators and 3 elected moderators but didn't really expand on the idea a lot, how does that sound?

If you're fine with hosting it all by yourself, then I won't argue against you
I think administration-wise, that sounds a good idea. It's a sound number of people and we've got enough people who are experienced and decent enough to do it without abusing their powers

Re: Funding and Administration
My weekend involved alcohol and sleeping (too much of both) so I never got around to writing anything up.
Will do tonight.

Staff
Obviously, boards need staff to run them. It wouldn't be right for MCS staff - who are primarily selected on their cartographic capability - to suddenly have to take on a load of extra admin and moderation roles. We have discussed, in various places, a set-up similar to MNEU's administrators/moderators system, where staff are divided into technical and moderation and are chosen by consensus. I have drafted a plan for this, which borrows heavily from the MNEU version - and for which we thank them. Comments and feedback greatly recieved!

Re: Funding and Administration
Correct me if I'm wrong; but doesn't this mean that any two-bit chav can waltz in and veto a moderatorial appointment?New moderators are chosen by the council of moderators. Any member of the forum can veto
the choice.
IMO, it would make more sense to say ". . . Any member of the council of moderators can veto the choice."

Yeah, I left in to see what people thought rather than take it out straight away. How about both by consensus? Not sure about mods choosing their own.
