[New forum] Name
We had a series of polls, and then something like consensus emerged to call ourselves "Micronational Community". However, this is far too long for a domain name (the optimum is something like six characters nowadays), all the shortened versions have been taken ("microcom" is quite a popular phrase!) and everything else is either taken or not possible. Spangle and I have just spent the best part of an hour looking for domains, and what we've come up with is "hub.mn". Now, we can integrate whatever we need to into this, but we need to settle on a name - do we go with hub.mn as our brand (with a snazzy logo) or do we use "Micronational Community" in there somewhere? Maybe a two part name - "hub.mn - the micronational community". Something like that.
Remember, of course, that any long name will instantly be made into an acronym because we're all very lazy typers!
Also, we have the possibility for subdomains (micras.hub.mn, anunia.hub.mn etc) - how might we use these?
Go, creative minds, go!

Re: [New forum] Name
Microhub or hub.mn might be a pretty good option due to the short-ness
Most micronational hubs seem to be named after their domain (MNN = MicroNations.Net, micronations.eu, openmicronational.org, the last one might just be me adding the .org) so a short name and a short domain may be the best option.

Re: [New forum] Name
I want to say "ooh, is the globe a good idea..."...
For my point:
It is rather related to the MCS now, it's pretty well linked in the minds of micronationalists, I should think.. It is in mine, certainly.
Against my point:
The exact same globe was used by the GSO, also used by the metro newspaper in france, but it could be both of those are stealing it off us (Definitely the metro is...)

Re: [New forum] Name
A more typography based logo?
Re: [New forum] Name
Well, for one, I think hub.mn is a great snappy name, and the globe logo looks pretty good. That globe is a generic one from a dingbat font, which is why it was chosen for the GSO logo.
Re: [New forum] Name
I also like hub.mn, and since Guido pointed out that microcom is quite common, I think it will serve as a good distinct name.
I do like the globe logo, but I think it's too linked with the MCS to be used for this purpose. Personally, I think we should use a wheel-type logo to represent the idea of this becoming a hub of utilities and services for the community.
Here are a few examples I pulled off of Google:
Note: I just like the design of this, and think it could be mimicked in a simpler format.

Not too keen on the rainbow wheel of fortune, but your second logo suggestion is quite nice.

The last one ryan said makes me think of this:

But, that's ok I suppose
The other two look a little too bright and colourful...

I do like that one... by any chance can you make it an svg? I'm guessing probably not...
If not, can you make it really really big? so it can be scaled down off a huge version when needed for big things
