[New forum] Layout of forum

Re: [New forum] Layout of forum
I agree with Guido on that matter. I don't see it being advantageous to associate with one ruleset, and it additionally sets a precedent of one-sidedness. We can just as easily provide equal opportunity for all the functioning rulesets.

I would add a Micronational Language Institute so we have a dedicated place for conlangs and such.dr-spangle wrote:So are we all happy with the way the forum is laid out in Guido's post at the start of this thread? Is this finalised?

If no one else is interested, then sure.

Re: [New forum] Layout of forum
Is this all decided then? Can we put a stamp on this and say it's done?
There are still more issues to discuss... forum style, and various other issues..

Go ahead and change the layout, I say, on the understanding that you can always change it again if there's enough interest. It's not like one change is set in stone for all time.

Re: [New forum] Layout of forum
It seems to me that there may well be a large number of boards on the forum- which is understandable given its wide usage and scope- however the more boards there are, the more the activity or inactivity of the sector is highlighted depending on the time of year and the messier it can look.
I've not much knowledge of phpBB coding myself but is there any way a kind of maximise/minimise function can be added to the forum skin so that categories can be hidden or revealed as needed?

That's a very simple script and one of the first I ever coded, so I would think we'd be able to add something like that.

Re: [New forum] Layout of forum
Posting that on every thread doesn't help much at all, there's discussion yet to be done on forum style which hasn't much progressed from a couple "ooh" messages.
