[New forum] Hosting
I'm not entirely sure what we're doing with this... which surely I should be sure on?
Are we doing some sort of free roamabout hosting where people can inevitably cause damage to the hub and everything?
Is it just subdomains of hub.mn with a bit of space?
Should I make some simple content management system like freewebs so that micronationalists can have a quick and easy way to build a website?
I like the idea of some little content management system giving micronations some domain like http://examplestan.mn.hub.mn or http://examplestan.host.hub.mn, I dunno?
Or is it just for the big things? apollo foundation etc?
Thing is I don't have a lot of mysql space (I plan on going through and clearing some, but yeah) and to get more would cost some monies probably, because bluehost are a bit silly about that...

Re: [New forum] Hosting
I would drop the third-level domain and make it examplestan.hub.mn.
I would also say to only give accounts local cPanel and nonroot FTP access, to minimize destruction.

Well obviously you wouldn't give them the root cPanel or FTP access, that would be stupid
But the fact is, giving them any FTP access can be pretty stupid, anyone can upload a little c99 shell script or whatever over FTP in some random directory and use that to pop up a couple directories and delete whatever they like..

Offer everyone a CMS-managed site at examplestan.hub.mn, then you can give FTP and other permissions on a case-by-case basis if you need to.

Re: [New forum] Hosting
Still need to make a CMS for this... which is a lot of work frankly... need a load of designs... I mean... would simple stuff like this do:
http://dr-spangle.com/.junk/mcsstuff/sites/1/
http://dr-spangle.com/.junk/mcsstuff/sites/2/
I need a bunch of designs for this stuff really, designs with a banner which can easily have text inputted into it and shit like that.
