Some ideas for MicrasWiki

Middle Korea and St. Fenix...obviously (where the DEVIL is he?)
I'd like to do an article on fascism on Micras, but aside from the Green Thunder Legion in Ashkenatza, I can't see what subject matter there is.

Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Well there was Treithar. I'm pretty sure that was Fascist (and not in the derogatory 'that's nasty and fascist' sense; I think it was a self-proclaimed Fascist state).
Oh, and I'm surprised you're bringing up Green Thunder in public again. I thought you'd have realised by now that they were an embarassment to both yourself and an insult to Ashkenatza. 'Coloured-shirts' paramilitaries especially do not belong in a civilised nation, especially not a Jewish nation.
Back on topic, however, I feel we ought to focus on articles about past micronations as I said- we need to get some of the 'Old Guard' to help us in cataloguing some of the very early Micran Sector nations (Apollonia, Audentior etc) before they eventually leave this hobby altogether. When they leave, nobody will know what the PRH those nations were anymore.

It's getting harder. Between the EzPlague and the Geocities Genocide, plus various national websites and forums being shut down due to inactivity, a lot of those old nations have been destroyed in their entirety save what has survived on hard drives the past decade or so, forcing us to rely on our rambling memories and a few sources like Microscope. I've personally lost one hard drive and had another wiped in the decade.Maximos wrote:Back on topic, however, I feel we ought to focus on articles about past micronations as I said- we need to get some of the 'Old Guard' to help us in cataloguing some of the very early Micran Sector nations (Apollonia, Audentior etc) before they eventually leave this hobby altogether. Still, I suppose it's our shared duty to attempt the best at archiving that we can. If a list can be compiled of what articles are lacking then I'll try to start on it and contact people that may know certain nations better or have saved pictures or other files.

Victoria would also be willing to give any webspace needed to store any images as back ups or what not. I think preservation is one of the most important aspects of this hobby throughout any time. It's always good to share information and allow others to gain inspiration or ideas in what not to do etc
Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
I couldn't agree more. But it is a daunting task and we have to be realistic about how we carry it out- obviously we can't catalogue every nation, but we should try and do top-notch articles for those which have been key players in Micran history. Dead nations are the best to start off with; when you've finished the article, you needn't worry about having to update it.Still, I suppose it's our shared duty to attempt the best at archiving that we can. I'll compile a list of 20 or so dead nations I feel we really ought to have good articles for- perhaps we can merge their completion in with some 'Wiki-Week' contest?
Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Something like that, sure. We'll work something out.
Incidentally I'm doing unrelated wiki work for Nelaga and I'm coming across some documents and histories that will probably be useful during the effort.

Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Important dead nations we don't have completed, professional articles for but really ought to:
Riponia
Novaya Zemlya
Treesia
Treithar
Karnali
Istvanistan
Karnali
Aerlig
Angsax
Gotzborg
Anthelia
Matbaa
Menelmacar
Hurmu
Baracão
VCC Cyberia
FR Cyberia
...and any other important nations I forgot. I think the nation pages need to be prioritised, simply because they can link in to other pages on history, organisations, conflicts, or community.

Gotzborg is no longer on the "dead" list as of earlier this summer ... http://www.gotzborg.com
Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Thanks for the update. I'm going to start by working on some very, very dead nations- the kind of places whose forums could be deleted tomorrow by their hosts and that we need to act quick to catalogue. Expect articles on Wachensburg and Mayo soon, possibly with Xinguo to follow.
A Gotzborg article would be excellent, if only because Gotzborg was such a formative nation in the Micran Sector and kept MX2 running single-handedly with KRS' shipyards. I know you've done a lot of work with RIMA (or founded it, even), so would you mind writing a brief history of Gotzborg and overview of the nation?
Some nations, sadly, seem totally lost. Mayo, the Red Antilles, Charlotta have all disappeared, and if anyone knows anything about The Corporation, Vehendi/Fax's interesting attempt at a Metropolis style corporate state, send me links, data, pictures... anything. Can't seem to find a link on the MN forum list.
Talamthom seemed a very active nation at one point but all I've been able to find is their newspaper and a website about one of their provinces. Help from people who were involved at one point would be excellent (cue Ardy, Ben, Edgard).

I'll see what I can do ... it unfortunately won't be at the top of my list as there's a lot of outstanding work I need to get done in support of the Gotzborg resurrection. As for Talamthom, I'll scour my archives for any material I may have and let you know.Maximos wrote:Thanks for the update. Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Thanks Liam- also if you have any RIMA information which could be used as an article for a nation, I hope you'll let MicrasWiki use it, to help it become a resource for the entire sector (hopefully).
And Joe- a CWOM article would be great- though of course we must prioritise. As I said, nations should come first, and organisations and everything else should be completed afterwards. An article on Nova England would be welcome though.

Re: Some ideas for MicrasWiki
Well you could always post an article in the Wiki Submissions Thread if you don't want to deal with all the Wiki code and that.
