FNORD article sources?
Maybe there should be sources for the FNORD article?
I was trying to find who won the FNORDs the year before I started getting medals made and got very confused.
So I went to try and find the source... I found last years here:
http://micras.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... ilit=FNORD (note the title is 2009 FNORDs, it's posted in January 2010)
Then on searching the old MNN archive I found this:
http://www.micronationhistory.info/mnne ... 093.0.html (note the title is 2008 FNORDs, it's posted in january 2008)
Where were the FNORDs posted in january 2009?
I can't find them anywhere at all. I know they existed, I won one: http://dr-spangle.com/award_fnord_spangle.gif
Where are they? and did Tony Au or Andreas win the economics award?

Well, dStryker != Andreas the Wise. I'm pretty certain of that, dStryker = Tony Au?FNORDs for 2008:
* Tony Au Award for Economics: DStryker (Andreas the Wise) of Lavalon for the Economic Think Tank project
* Liam Sinclair Award for Micronational History: Jonas Windsor for Wiki articles on Batavia
* Jeremy Bellamy Award for RecWar and Storytelling: Anthony Montague
* Liam conToketi Award for Best New Micronationalist: Peter Ulsnes
* Best New Idea: Dr-Spangle for his Micronational Meetup link chart
* Bill Dusch Award For Cultural Development: Troy Thompson for the creation of the Babkhi language
* Best Graphic Artwork: Scott Alexander for the Quetzal series of MCS maps
* Iain Jacobson Award for Micronational Journalism: Will Tomsett
* Odlum Award for Overall Achievement: Hesam Jayatar

Didn't Lyam reject his 2007 Best New MNalist award as well? T'was the year af numerous "controversial" nominations and winners, I seem to remember

We've narrowed it down to MicroHub, and Spangle is now attempting to retrieve the forum...

Speaking of old organizations, does anyone have a copy of the GSO map and/or a link to an archive of CENTMO?

Re: FNORD article sources?
I have GSO and a bunch of other stuff here:

I haven't got the fractal version as no one would release that

Re: FNORD article sources?
Yeah I was actually wondering if there was any way somebody could update the micras.org/Archive map archives (or at whatever URL they're hosted under now) as that tool has proven very useful to me in making MicrasWiki pages about past nations.

Re: FNORD article sources?
At the fastest rate with a good map, it takes about an hour of uninterrupted work to add 1 map to those Archives :/
With layered maps, it would be much much faster to update the archive... but no one will make layered maps, even when i pay them

Re: FNORD article sources?
You could just upload them with the link going straight to the image rather than via all the table information for now, and then work on all of that when you have the time. As long as there's something there in the archives to go by (sometimes I even have a look back for when I'm doing the claimsmap and not find what I'm looking for as it's too recent), that's good enough - especially with what Max wants them for MicrasWiki fordr-spangle wrote:At the fastest rate with a good map, it takes about an hour of uninterrupted work to add 1 map to those Archives :/
Re: FNORD article sources?
I may have tried to do a layered map in the past and went mad trying to work out how people have the patience, not to mention the software, to actually make them work.
How much would you pay for a couple of them, Spangle?

Re: FNORD article sources?
Already working on a layered map, actually. Work on that will speed up once the current phase of my vector map is done.

Re: FNORD article sources?
I was offering £3 per layered map
My post said the exact layers needed...
Also it would be required to be as pixel perfect to the png map as possible...

The only one I use consistently and reliably is ICQ, because a few long-time friends use it; I have AIM, but I don't usually bother with it.Shyriath!

I have a question about that, as long as we're on the topic: WHICH png map? For example, if there's a conflict between the claimsmap and the physical map, which one do I use? Also it would be required to be as pixel perfect to the png map as possible...
The question comes up because I'm using both maps to reconstruct the coastline; the coast on the claimsmap, for example, is obscured by bits of text and so forth, so I need a source for the missing pixels. But there are quite a few instances so far (and I've not come anywhere near running out of coastline to check yet) where the claimsmap has diverged from the physical map. Most of the differences are small, and usually I choose in favor of the claimsmap, because that's the one people have been seeing the most of, but there are a few instances where the difference is harder to explain away. There's at least one island, for example, that the physical map has that the claimsmap doesn't (and would have pertinence to a current claim).
