It's here, sometimes all you need is to open it as if it was a link, not an image

From the perspective of an avid tactical shooter both through recreation and as an MP in the US Army, the location of the safety on that weapon is awful. As a civilian weapon I can entertain arguments for a placement like that, but on a service weapon?

Re: CMVP has created a new Handgun
You took the words right out of my mouth ... the safety is in a very bad location. Essentially this handgun should only be used by lefties, as manipulating the safety for righties will not be an efficient movement. Personally I prefer the double-action option with a high enough tension on the trigger pull to make the shot a deliberate action versus having a safety switch to fumble around with in the heat of things. From the perspective of an avid tactical shooter both through recreation and as an MP in the US Army, the location of the safety on that weapon is awful. Re: CMVP has created a new Handgun
I whole heartedly agree, and as a tactical firearm (infantry special right?) it doesn't matter that non gunnies don't understand decockers, drop safeties, and firing pin blocks. On civilian marketed weapons, or those carried by law enforcement in view of people that don't understand ("Gasp! The hammer is cocked on that policeman's pistol! What if his hip bumps the squad car. We may all die! They sky is faaaaaaaling.") manual safties are infinitely more important.
Also, technicality, this would only be good for lefties who love the taste of hot brass.
Just to be fair, let me explain what we're talking about. A manual safety (the kind with the 'safe' and 'fire' settings you illustrated on your pistol) works by locking the trigger so it cannot be pulled to fire the weapon. If you picture how a pistol is held, rotating that switch requires the index finger of the firing hand (assuming standard right hand dominance) to be used in a raking motion down towards the trigger, leading to potential negligent discharges in the heat of battle. Since pistols in modern combat are usually used as last resort weapons, drawn when the primary rifle is out of ammunition or compromised the expectation that adrenaline will be flowing (and fine motor skills diminished) is almost guaranteed. Returning the weapon to safe doesn't look possible or comfortable with one hand, and will require a cumbersome second hand movement. In many cases the primary weapon is slinged to the chest rig. When resorting to a sidearm the rifle is slung to the non-dominant hip by the non-dominant hand and held there out of the way while the draw and fire of the pistol is done with one hand. Being able to put the pistol on safe and holster it saves time and time saves lives in gunfights.
Safeties that can be operated by the firing hand thumb, preferrably forward where the thumb naturally rests (not on the slide like the damned Baretta, forcing loose draws) enable the firer to draw and disengage the safety all in the time it takes to flash sight the enemy. I don't see that happening with this set up. Unless you are left handed, in which case the ejection port still kicks hot brass to the right and into your face.

I must admit I did not put as much thought into that safety as I should have. I guess you just have to learn from your mistakes.
EDIT: I have decided to recall the W-7 and redesign it. I have came up with something with a bit more friendly safety set up. It's called the W-7-R1 and I'm hopping it will work out better.
