Proposal for the Council: Country names
I propose that country names be written somewhere on the map along the main territory of the question in capital letters but in the same size as cities and provinces. That way, we won't have to double-check the table every time and try to differentiate between different shades of the same colour in order to understand what country is a neighbour.

Re: Proposal for the Council: Country names
I think this idea's been mentioned in passing before, but hasn't come to anything. I think it could come in handy to differentiate between similarly-coloured nations - which can be difficult if you're new on the scene (or have a terrible monitor) - so I'd be fine with adding such labels to the map (we do the same with territories as it is anyway, after all)
Either that, or everyone does my thing and starts remembering the map like the back of their hand
EDIT: Y'can vote on the Interland expansion, by the way, Ric!

Oh well, we had Special Map for that... And I was, like, a Special Maps Cartographer... But it was ages ago when I didn't have to share time between studying, working, my girlfriend and my family :/
I think the names would be handy, but sometimes we'd have problems where to place 'em...

Re: Proposal for the Council: Country names
Well, real atlases do put country names across them sometimes, usually in a different font or size though. I wouldn't be entirely opposed as long as it were easy enough to differentiate from the city and regional names.

Re: Proposal for the Council: Country names
Well, as I mentioned territories, we currently put nations' names in squared brackets in their labels, so we could just do the same for the mainlands. I don't think I'd want to use any font larger than the others as it could look scruffy when overlapping any borders and such.

Re: Proposal for the Council: Country names
Maybe not larger, but perhaps in a different font, dead center of the landmass? The more I think of it, the more I dolike the idea. Not the long flowery names most of us have of course, but the one word simple usage. It wouldn't be too much work if we just asked everyone to include it in their next modification and for all future claims. That would reduce the burden on the cartographer. I'd also be willing to do some of the work if you wanted to task out a continent apeice to others.
And I don't mind making this public.

Re: Proposal for the Council: Country names
A different font could be do-able, or maybe even just emboldening/italicising the usual TNR. Dead centre would be difficult with most nations, however, due to existing labels and internal borders, so maybe just wherever it fits best. If it's a different font, it'll be distinguishable enough wherever it's placedKing Ailin of Uantir wrote:Maybe not larger, but perhaps in a different font, dead center of the landmass?
And that's enough backing for me to move it. Onward, to Regulations Discussion!

No opposition, shall we put it to Council voting?

Sounds like a go-er to me. No non-Council members have even said anything about the idea
