Relevance and Absorption
Recognizing that the Apollo Foundation hasn't seen any new posts or activity within two full years, and that some of its staff, like Harvey, are no longer around, I wish to broach the subject of relevance of that organization's continued existence and whether it might not be more prudent to absorb some of its core functions into the MCS' oversight as a better form of management.
The same can be said for the Micrasian Meteorological Agency, whose functions are essentially an extension of the MCS.
It seems that a good plan of action would be to combine the College of Arms, Apollo Foundation, Micras Heritage Sites, and Micronational Speech Society as subforums of the International Centre for Micropatriology. The ICM is essentially an umbrella term for all of the aforementioned organizations; and seeing as none of those listed seem to be doing much, and are lacking in any dedicated staff, it would be best to combine them into one organization. I am not suggesting to delete or otherwise eliminate these organizations - that may be discussed if it is felt to be applicable - but rather to combine the fragmented resources of each into a single and much more viable effort. To keep things as they are at present is, I fear, not sustainable nor to the benefit of anyone trying to do micronational research.
Please discuss at your leisure.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
So maybe... We should keep them as subfora of the ICM board? We could always choose the "show below the parent forum" option, so that they can be accessed and seen when active from the Forum Index.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
I agree, there's no point cluttering up the forum with unused boards. Tidying up is a good plan
Re: Relevance and Absorption
This sounds like a good idea. I do think, for example, the College of Arms and AF definitely need to retain some constitutive status within whatever other org.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
I agree. The College of Arms can function as an arm of the ICM much more effectively than it can as an independent organization. The same could be said of the Foundation, which is essentially an archival service.
Re: Relevance and Absorption
In fact, combining all of these things within the ICM would encourage it to have a full-time staff, to co-ordinate the many different activities. So absorption would be beneficial for all concerned.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
Shall I go ahead and make these changes? Everyone seems to support them. Just to clarify, it's:
International Centre of Micropatriology
>Apollo Foundation
>College of Arms
>Micras Heritage Sites Board
>Micras Meteorology Agency
>Micronational Speech Society

Re: Relevance and Absorption
I believe that was the proposal, yes, and I agree with it.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
Everything except the Micras Meteorological Agency - since that pertains to Micras it should be absorbed by the MCS.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
The same could be said with the Micras Heritage Sites, could it not?
Re: Relevance and Absorption
That is true. Although the MHS might do better to have an icon we can add to the map rather than its own organization.

Re: Relevance and Absorption
Perhaps, but there's only like one or two defined sites. Thinking about it, it's not really as relevant to the realistic development of Micras as, say the MMA or MAS, so probably is best suited for the ICM
I'll sort that out now while I'm here!
EDIT: Or maybe we should just archive the MHSB?

Re: Relevance and Absorption
I think we should just archive the MHSB.
There hasn't been any real demand for its use since its inception, and Jeremy isn't around anymore (save for the occasional appearance). Whatever functionality it had can be absorbed outright by the functions of the ICM.
