A rather outlandish idea...
...that I think will shake up and might at least partially revitalise micronationalism:
End Micras and move on to a different planet.

Too much of Micrasian land is squatted upon by dying countries.

Or we could just use forced reductions like we always have?

Outlandish and silly. Part of the joy of Micras is that we are all attatched to our lands and there is a long history. Some of us have been here almost a decade and we'd lose a lot of what makes it memorable. That and our countries have developed along the lines of Micras.
What's worst about the idea is that it would only be a short term fix. It doesn't actually solve any of the issues any person should be worried about. It'd make work for making new maps and so on, after that you are stuffed. The problem is that we need things to be sustainable in the long term. Dying countries are dying because they can't keep activity levels up or that they are going through a trough. Hope that answers it.
Want to boost the activity? Get more people in who are younger and have more time. People like me have jobs now!

Go to Myxosea (if that's still going) and enjoy the new-slate thing there. Micras can happily co-exist.

Totally uncalled for. There is no shortage of interesting land and the amount of free space is only likely to increase.joefoxon wrote:Or we could just use forced reductions like we always have?
A new world won't boost activity, at least in the mid-to-long term. All it will achieve is to sever any remaining historical and sentimental bonds and thereby most likely result in a further loss of people and activity.CJ Miller wrote:Too much of Micrasian land is squatted upon by dying countries.
No, the answer to the present situation is to try to stimulate existing states while attracting newcomers and that, I believe would best be achieved by a loosening of red-tape and a more welcoming attitude to sensible fresh ideas. One idea I mooted a while ago was to set aside an area of land (possibly Eura?) specifically for new projects. Ideally, I would like to see the current claiming restrictions reduced in this "newbie zone", to encourage development; like it or not, in today's climate of instant gratification a three-month waiting period is likely to dissuade a lot of people who might otherwise give Micras a go. Yes, lowering the bar will mean giving space to people with less commitment, but it's not as though we're attracting committed participants as it is.
