Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
While I applaud your organization and general commitment towards excellence shown here, the way you have these OrBats structured is complicated and difficult to reference easily. Furthermore, there are discrepencies in the costing of units. For example, the Independent Armoured Squadron has a Main Battle Tank costed at 45 points instead of Anunia's 50, and no explination is given as to why this tank is considered a cheaper alternative, which violates charter section IV, E.
I am going to have to ask that certain OrBats resubmitted, cutting our the organizational levels and using standard Anunia units when possible and explaining the differences between standard Anunia units and your custom units whenever they are claimed. Mostly, I just don't want to short through all this to make sure you're not doing anythign too fishy, so I figure you should do the dirty work.
The National Form is acceptable and I recognize the veterancy of Braden's forces.

Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
*Strangled gurgling cry of anguish*
I see where you are coming from but I'd just like to note that Chieftans are inferior to the benchmark tanks quoted, being about 30 years obsolete in comparison to the Challenger II and the American Abrams. However I'll gird my loins and provide thorough and boring explanations/rationalisations of any differences that exist. However I will not at this stage retract the submission (unless violently coerced, and in so far as is possible I'd like to avoid that...).
There is a reasonable expectation that just as if you mark the unit cost up if it is better than the standard you can by rights mark it down if it is not the equal of the example cited. In several instances there has been a conscious decision to sacrifice quality in favour of quantity for the simple reason that Anunia armies are by any reasonable expectation too damned small.

Well, as far as I know there is no Anunia standard when it comes to the format of Orbats.

Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
Not per se, but I'll be damned if I'm going through a whole list of military technologies to see where their capabilities differ from standard units. This is a military simulation and too many arguments have been started in past recwars when someone tried to explain how their fighters had higher flight ceilings or something when the rest of the players just wanted to have a fair recwar. A tank with any other name still moves and shoots the same, unless you explain exactly how it differs.

Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
Are you just going to stare blankly at me while I explain the difference between milled-steel and reactive armour and conventional armoured piercing and depleted uranium shells? If so that lies at the crux of 'a tank is not just a tank' and 'complexity is necessary'.SaiKar wrote:Not per se, but I'll be damned if I'm going through a whole list of military technologies to see where their capabilities differ from standard units. I'll get to work on the explanations.
Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
I'm not going to stare blankly. I don't much care about the physics behind it all, I'll admit, but if you say "this tank can shoot farther" or "this tank can take hits better" then that's fine by me and we can come to an agreement on what an adjusted cost should be.. The "A tank with any other name" comment was the default without the explanations.Ardashir Khan wrote:Are you just going to stare blankly at me while I explain the difference between milled-steel and reactive armour and conventional armoured piercing and depleted uranium shells? Re: Antican Order of Battle / Paperwork
Is this going to be applied to the super-heavy tanks and war machines of the other side as well? The very least we can request is that we see some specifications of the various units beforehand.

If you would like Saikar, I could handle all Annunia Standard vs Home Grown Technology debates?
Perhaps us 3 Judges should bash out an agreement on what we're going to rule on so we don't fall over each other?
