Re: Summer friendly matches
Gerenia can confirm this. I'd like to see a Caputia vs. Gerenia match in that list. Thank you!

Re: Summer friendly matches
Mercury looked to reignite their old rivalry with Hamland as they faced-up to successors Caputia in their first pre-EMU warm-up game, on the back of a third-place finish in the Confederations' Cup. The hosts were fairly fortunate in the opening exchanges, as a nervy-looking Jean-Alain Foucault sliced his attempted clearance straight into the path of captain Joe Foxon, who was able to place the ball into the bottom corner. It didn't take long, however, for Caputia to get a grip on the game, and they were able to level the scores through Foxon's Tow Law strike partner, Andrew Miller. Wilmont Fizeau-Blake gave Foucault a scare, thundering a free-kick against the crossbar, with Foxon's effort on the rebound tamely making its way wide of the mark. The game seemed to be an exhibition of Mercury League strikers, with May Wanderers' Álexis Carrasco heading in from a corner, ten minutes before the break.
In the second half, the visitors had a few early chances to double their lead, but a string of saves from Ian Pratchett kept his side in the contest. Jack Partridge was tripped by Maxime Sion in Caputia's penalty area, but Joe Foxon was unable to take advantage as Foucault pushed the ball wide at full stretch. It increasingly seemed that, despite pretty much constant pressure, it was not going to be Mercury's night, as Jack Partridge missed a sitter before his replacement Matt Fitzgerald had his pocket agonisingly picked as he was about to pull the trigger on a stranded Foucault. The breakthrough finally came three minutes from time as Fitzgerald managed to poke home from close range following Foxon's speculative effort took a deflection off d'Oliviera. The final result was all-too-familiar for the hosts, with three of their five meetings with Hamland ending in draws, although on this occasion there was no penalty shoot-out to show for their efforts.
Mercury 2-2 Caputia
3' - J. Foxon
14' - Miller
36' - Carrasco
62' - J. Foxon (missed penalty - Saved)
87' - Fitzgerald

Senya 2-0 Tellia
15' - A. Danetskë
89' - D. Ƨarkœvič
Senya enacted a degree of revenge on the Tellians with a comfortable win in the very same stadium where they lost the World Cup final only ten months ago. As in the final, and in their shared group match last year, Alesandrœ Danetskë struck in the first half; opening the scoring after a quarter-hour with a tremendous half-volley inside the area from Barnaby Hands' chipped cross in. Tellia, aiming for a fourth Benacia Cup victory next month, were no pushovers as one would expect, but had a notable lack of finishing touch to their attacks. Marko Zajc went closest through a swerving free-kick before the break, while Armando Uggè was kept quiet for the majority of the match by a defence of players who have faced the forward domestically all season. Senya were guilty of complacency in front of goal on occasion too, with Danetskë twice failing to shoot first time and allowing a covering tackle to be made. However, in the final minutes, substitute Domonik Ƨarkœvič doubled the difference after taking advantage of a deflected clearance to sprint past Pasquale di Montezemolo and slot inside the near post confidently. Senya have two opponents lined-up before their Copa Apollonia campaign begins - the group draw for which was made today - while Tellia have no forthcoming fixtures scheduled ahead of their journey to Shireroth for the WMFA's showpiece event.

Craitland 4-0 Transbatavia
43' - L. Jonmikeltsen
50' - A. Perryman
71' - F. Gaärsen
77' - L. Jonmikeltsen
Craitland's second string ran-out easy victors over a Transbatavia team making their international bow. With the match an exercise for some of his provisional squad's less-experienced players to prove themselves to manager Zyx Dermäna, those who were given the opportunity didn't disappoint.
Transbatavia were a tricky team to break down in the first half, setting-up with a strong defensive formation, but Lydveldt Jonmikeltsen's header from a Jan Mikelt corner broke the deadlock just before half time. Shortly after the restart, midfielder Adám Perryman staked his claim for a squad place with an accurate finish from the edge of the box after a swift break, while legend Freddie Gaärsen came on for the final half an hour - after failing to play in three of the team's last four matches - and tucked away his 106th international strike after a knock-down from fellow club-mate Jonmikeltsen. Craitland's fourth came soon after, as Jonmikeltsen capped an impressive display with his second of the evening from another free header; this time from Ilt Valmer's lofted free-kick from the halfway line. One notable Craitish performance came from stopper Jesse Lydveldt, whose first international start ended with a clean sheet; a stark contrast to the own goal he scored during a ten-minute cameo against Arboria on his début last January.

*Played 22nd June*
Hoenn 0-1 Gerenia
48' - Z. Toscano
Zelmar Toscano's free-kick early in the second half was the difference as Hoenn and Gerenia played-out an intriguing match in Nijima. In preparation for their first ever EMU finals tournament appearance, Hoenn lined-up an exhibition against giants Gerenia, who head into the Copa Apollonia as one of the favourites, and impressed on a tactical level. Although they were unable to pass the wall of Režan Arkuse in the Gerenian goal, the Hoennese players forged a number of attacks through intricate passing and held-off a front line including Cr 20 million striker Fabris Balbîn with a strict defensive shape at the opposite end. The decisive factor of the match came shortly after the break through a moment of magic from star man Toscano. Balbîn was the man wronged outside the left-hand side of the Hoennese box, and Toscano struck a powerful free-kick reminiscent of his one against Jingdao in the World Cup last summer into the top corner. The goal aside, Hoenn gave a strong performance which will give them confidence ahead of the EMUs as they face Senya on the 27th, while Gerenia's ability to grind-out a win shows a side to the team which was notably absent last year as they face two more opponents ahead of travelling to Coria for their fourth Copa Apollonia.

*Played 24th June*
New Vaduz 1-2 Florian Republic
3' - F. Groffenheimer
21' - Joh. Meier (o.g.)
45' - A. Macabe
The Florian Republic came from behind to beat New Vaduz after the hosts had taken an early lead. Florian Groffenheimer scored against him namesake nation after just three minutes after being played through one-on-one to finish smoothly into the bottom corner, but the visitors were the better side thereafter. Cristiano Ramirez's crosses into the box created both of the team's goals, with an inconvenient deflection off centre-back Johan Meier squeezing its way through Pascal Müller's grasp midway through the half, before Alex Macabe was picked-out unmarked in the middle of the box for a strong header right before the break. The second half saw a number of changes, but Macabe remained the primary threat for either side, and had another headed effort skim the top of the crossbar in the closing stages, but was unable to add to the scoreline. This is the Florians' only planned trip abroad so far ahead of the Copa Apollonia, and they can travel back buoyed by a comfortable win by a side which qualified for the last World Cup, while New Vaduz's rather narrow qualification to EMU 2018 is likely to see them need fortunate goals like Meier's to go in their favour if they're going to make any impact in Mercury next month.
