2022 Dauian-Mataba Cup
*Played 9th November*
First leg
First leg
Mataba 0-2 Daau
23' - Clover
59' - L. Verbic
Mataba hosted their masters in their first ever international fixture, having eventually been successful in their application for FMF membership. The game was arranged as part of a double-header, with the return leg in two weeks' time forming the inaugural Dauian-Mataba Cup. With a tad more international experience, Daau were the more dominant side throughout the match, with star forward Clover bin Clover finding the net with a strong header from an Ipin cross midway through the first half to open the scoring. A second was denied by Nell Ridgerson before the break, as the stopper tipped an optimistic strike from Shahril Ishac over the bar.
The second 45 began with a Matabese offensive, but the hosts failed to capitalise as Johnny Colaco scuffed his shot wide of the post. Daau's superiority continued into the remainder of the half, however, and their lead was extended around the hour mark; Tomoyuki Doi broke through the defensive line before finding a low cross for Luka Verbic to finish first time with a side-foot from the middle of the box. Doi himself almost scored a third for Daau minutes later, but his header landed on the roof of the net, with no further clear-cut chances coming before full time.
A Dauian advantage before the fixture in Jurong in a fortnight, while Mataba now have an official match under their belts and plenty to build on going forward.

Second leg
Second leg
Daau 2-1 Mataba
14' - T. Doi
86' - T. Doi
90' - M. Al-Qari
The return fixture of the Dauian-Mataba Cup was held in Daau, with the home side holding a 2-0 lead from the first game after a strong performance. The Dauians' advantage was extended early in the fixture with Tomoyuki Doi finding the back of the net with a towering header from a delivery from strike partner Clover bin Clover.
Contrary to the first match, Mataba performed better and the match on the whole was a relatively close affair, though a late defensive mistake allowed Doi to score his second and truly put the competition beyond all doubt. A heavy touch by Lionel Wen when taking a pass allowed Doi to steal the ball away and dribble through before slotting home through the 'keeper's legs from the angle. However, there was still time in the minutes added on for a consolation with a thunderous Muhammad Al-Qari shot going in via the post.
Daau lift a first ever trophy, thanks to a pretty simple two-leg win over their own dependency Mataba, to give them plenty of positivity ahead of their inaugural qualifying campaign, with more much-needed experience being gained.
