Re: 2012 Benacia Cup
Following their World Cup victory, Angelo Perrotta has announced his squad for the national side for the upcoming Benacia Cup. As expected, many of those who played in the FMF World Cup are retained; however there are a few changes to the squad, with only 5 players over the age of 23 being included.
Roberto Flavienchini and Pasquale di Montezemolo do not travel to the squad following their World Cup triumph, with both players returning to club duty earlier than expected, whilst some players who missed the World Cup cut have been included.
Frederico Diamo and Kristófer Jóhannsson both return to the squad, whilst LVG defender Mariano Zavoli receives his first call up to the side. Gianluca Tuono also receives his first senior call-up, having previously played for the Under 21 team.
The main surprise inclusion has been Romero's Daniele Moizini. Moizini, 17, was included on the bench for several of Romero's games last season but has not yet made a first team appearance. The midfielder has previously worked with Perrotta during his reign at the club, and he must have held the youngster's potential to call him up to the squad.
Elsewhere, there are no real surprises with the likes of Simone Di Maggio, Sezer Özker, Marko Zajc and co. all remaining in the squad in what looks set to be a very similar line-up to one seen at the World Cup in Antica, where they managed to go unbeaten without conceding a goal throughout the entire tournament.

Re: 2012 Benacia Cup
Upon hearing the news that he had been selected for the Elwynn team ahead of the Benacia Cup, Dario Sakhimzedeh sat down with Senya TV.
Code: Select all
Senya TV: Well, Dario, how are you feeling about being selected for Elwynn?
DS: I'm over the moon! It's a dream come true for me. I went to all of the home qualifiers as a fan, and now to be in the team is just amazing!
Senya TV: You've only been in professional football for two months, but do you think you'll be ready for such a big tournament?
DS: Absolutely. I mean, in June when Politzea were doing their trials, I just turned up with my mates from collage. We were having a holiday in Senya at the time, and we just turned up for the trials to have a go. I got a phone call back and now here I am. But yes, I do think I'm ready. This is my national team, so I'm going to give 110%. I know I'm not going to be a starter, but just to be in the team alongside your idols in fantastic, so I won't want to let them down. I also don't doubt myself. I may only be 17, but I feel that I am good enough to compete at this high level of competition.
Senya TV: Best of luck for the tournament.
DS: Thank You.

Re: 2012 Benacia Cup
*Played 13th August*
Group BElwynn 1-1 Sanilla
27' - M. Sonetti
48' - Y. Miskjalendzki
Hosts Sanilla were unable to hold-on to a promising lead in the first ever Benacia Cup match, but came away with a draw against an Elwynnese side full of chances. Both teams have named youthful squads for the tournament, and that aspect showed, with most of the match being reminiscent of the opening ten minutes of their friendly match earlier in the year. Mariolino Sonetti scored Sanilla's first competitive goal, finishing off a lovely move which involved superb passes from Nishi Kilihi and Sylvester Bale by putting the ball into a half-empty net unmarked after Folki Öldrikkari had been drawn-out. Going into the break one-up must have been a great morale boost for the hosts, but it was short-lived as Yngvi Miskjalendzki again spoiled the party. The youngster, who scored Elwynn's equaliser the last time these two played, found the net almost straight from the restart. Arvið frå Bakkinon's long ball picked-out Razdjani Emiri and his header down found Miskjalendzki in space to put the ball deep into the right side of the goal, well out of the reach of Taki Tolâso. Both teams created chances following the leveller, but Tolâso and Öldrikkari were found in fine form and neither team could add to their tallies, leaving both with a well-earned point.
Shireroth 0-0 Tellia
The match which many pundits had singled-out as being a potential game of the tournament failed to live-up to the hype in the end. Following Tellia's World Cup triumph last month, and Shireroth being their rivals and bogey team, this was expected to be a high-scoring but close match. However, despite being tight, the goals just didn't come. Neither side were short of attacking prowess, but both teams are also renowned for strong defences and solid goalkeeping. With names like Sezer Özker, Gianluca Salmoiraghi, Kurt Lamberti and Jalal Akwá on the pitch, goals looked inevitable, but, despite all four having great chances, none could do anything to change the goalless scoreline. Both teams will be happy to take a point and a clean sheet though, with Ashkenatza to come.

CLASHES OF FANS IN MORTIS MERCATORIA LEADS TO ARRESTS
As the Ashkenatza-Tellia fixture closes in, hostile scenes flared up in the Sanillan city of Mortis Mercatoria following a clash of fans, escalating in violence which led to injuries and as many as 30 arrests in the city.
Tellia, who managed to retain its football team due to being a FMF founding member do not experienced any autonomy status in Ashkenatza, as the ethnic minorities generally see themselves inhabiting to two eastern-most provinces of the Republic. However, it is believed that ultralists and extreme activists have used this as an opportunity to fight their message for autonomy status, encountering violent disputes with Ashkenatzi fans supporting their team at the Benacian Cup.
The incident has led to 15 people being treated in hospital for minor injuries, with objects such as bar stools and glass bottles being exchanged in a fight in the city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Ashkenatza and Tellia have always had a hostile atmosphere in recent times due to the ultras and extremists, leading to matches having to be played in tight security, in a neutral venue or behind closed doors. It is expected that both FA's will be fined for their inability to control their fans.
One fan from Ashkenatza called the scenes as crazy and admitted he feared for his life. He said, "These Tellians are crazy. We are meant to be from the same country, representing the same people but it seems that they will not see peace until they get autonomy. If you are seen as someone Ashkenatza, they will try to kill you - and they are people of Ashkenatza themselves! They even have Ashkenatzi Jews playing for their team. I don't see what their problem is."
Following this incident, both Haskel Bernstein and Isaac Mahler have both handed in their request to sit out the game. Both were part of the 2012 FMF World Cup winning side, but claim that for safety reasons they do not want to play in the game to avoid abuse from both set of supporters. The duo, who both come from Ashkenatzi Jewish backgrounds opted to play for Tellia instead of Ashkenatza, both who started the previous game in their 0-0 draw against Shireroth.
Mahler, who was one of the key players in the Tellian World Cup winning side told the press, "When I step onto the pitch, I represent both Ashkenatza and Tellia. But with this violence, neither I or Haskell [Bernstein] feel safe in this environment and we would fear for our lives if we played in this match. I'd rather sit the match out and not even set foot anywhere near the stadium."
It is believed that both of these players will mean Martin Große and Frederico Diamo will both come into the starting 11 for the Ashkenatza game.
