Florian Republic vs. Craitland (16/08)
*Played 16th August*
Florian Republic 0-2 Craitland
13' - W. Zóma
45' - J.M. Juliaĵsen
Craitland visited fellow USSO members the Florian Republic in the home nation's first international match since the end of the Xhusor War which ravaged a large portion of its eastern reaches. The Craits brought a weakened side, albeit made-up entirely of players who were involved in their run to the quarter-finals in Senya this summer, while the Florians' usual line-up faced-up against them.
A rapid start from both sides gave way to Will Zóma opening the scoring with a powerful low strike within the first quarter of an hour. While the Florian Republic raised a few eyebrows with a very close Harry Lewis free-kick just before the break, which found the side netting, the subsequent Craitish counter was a lesson in clinical finishing as Jan-Morteņ Juliaĵsen turned Adám Perryman's delivery home with a deft first-time sidefoot. The second half gave us a number of talking points, with both Stewart Florian and substitute Aidan Keĵinz being booked in quick succession for petulance, but additional goals weren't to be found. Craitland had the best effort, but the 'keeper was equal to Perryman's half-volley from distance, while the Florians' wayward shots caused little panic; both Sam Butcher and Alex Macabe (twice) being guilty of lacking composure and skying their chances. However, the home side's defence performed after the break, shoring-up well in spite of the manager's refusal to make any substitutions.
