Florian Cup Round of 16 creates thrills and upsets.

The Florian Cup has created some thrills and upsets but who would have thought that two league one sides would progress to the quarterfinals of the competition and that a top premier league side would be shocked by the team which has won the Florian Championship with eleven games to spare!
Firstly, struggling Florian Premier League side were given an almighty shock when they founded out that they 3-0 down against third-tier side, Blyth City at halftime. However, to avoid utter embarrassment in the first leg, five unanswered goals in the second half seemed to have done the job. It was a tight affair in the second leg with Northsilver winning 2-1 o the night and 7-4 on aggregate.

In all third tier tie between Royal Diamonds and Birmingham United, it proved to a thriller. In the first leg, the dying moments saw two quickfire goals from the Diamonds who would later progress after an easy 3-1 win in the return leg.
Next, all eyes were on big money spenders, Ostville Wednesday who hosted Premier league side, Blackoak Town. In a packed Mountain Road, the owls found themselves a goal behind after just 31 seconds after a humiliating own goal by the goalkeeper, Sean Owen. However, this was corrected with a second-half double from Ethan Shaw. The second leg ended up the same score and the Florian Championship winners will no play AFC Dragonmoor who beat Southoak 3-2 in the quarterfinals. Westlake Town comfortably beating Southgate 4-1 on aggregate, a team which was almost wiped out due to the war of lost Brothers and RB Dragonmoor had to win 9-8 on penalties against Meadowedge Red Star to progress.

Finally, the Northcliff Derby was the highlight of the round as both major Northcliff sides took on each other for the very first time. In a packed Northcliff Arena, a late header from Cristiano Ramirez was the difference in the first leg who would, later on, score all three goals in the second leg.

Florian football fans can know what for a mouthwatering quarterfinal draw and with the war at an end, it is expected that crowds will significantly increase in coming weeks.
