Craitland vs. Senya friendly (09/05)
*Played 9th May*
Craitland 2-2 Senya
23' - J.M. Juliaĵsen
32' - B. Hands
52' - Juan P.
86' - K. Volinsk (pen.)
Senya and Craitland's fifth meeting kept their overall record on par as Kiket Volinsk's late penalty on his début snatched a draw. Both teams started with changes to their line-ups, as the visitors introduced players from surprise champions Kateki Blavisen and Craitland went with a less-familiar 3-4-3 formation.
The Craits began well against last summer's World Cup finalists, with the added attacking threat causing the Senyan defence some difficulties. Will Zóma was too much for James Richard to handle when given the chance to run at the defender, and his traipse out to the left led to the opening goal. Zóma's cross from the byline was met by Jan-Morteņ Juliaĵsen's flying header from the middle of the area, which found the far side of the net as domestic teammate Sileman Bɏankarlënœ was unmoved in goal. The lead lasted under ten minutes, however, as the Craits' diminished defensive options allowed an easy Senyan attack through. Jan Maytek pushed forward via a one-two with Alesandrœ Danetskë near the "D" before slotting the ball square to Barnaby Hands, who broke the offside trap, inside the box to strike a first time effort inside the near post to take Jamie Vallensen off-guard; a second scorer putting past his own club teammate.
Craitland didn't need long after the break to restore their lead, only taking seven minutes to find the net again. Some gelling play among the team's front five saw the ball cross the pitch in a matter of moments; going between the Pellegrino brothers via Juliaĵsen, Zóma and Jonmikeltsen, to leave Juan Pellegrino with the ball under no pressure to finish smoothly under Bɏankarlënœ for his first international goal. Craitland remained in top after going 2-1 up, but were unable to build on their lead despite going close through a Juan free-kick and a Jonmikeltsen header; both of which landed on the roof of the net. Senya forced their way back into the game in the closing stages and their persistence forced the game's main talking point. Danetskë received the ball in the area in space but was clumsily taken down by Jan Mikelt from behind, which led to Mikelt seeing a straight red contentiously. Danetskë also left the match to be substituted, though with no injury reported, leaving Kiket Volinsk to take the resulting spot-kick, which he placed neatly into the left-hand side of the net as Vallensen chose the opposite direction.
The final few minutes lent no time for a winner for either side, and a first ever tie between these two was sealed. Senya now head into a Confederations Cup semi-final, while Craitland have two more qualifiers remaining despite having booked their place in this summer's Benacia Cup a fortnight ago.
