Group A
Group A
North Antarctica 1-0 Athlon
17' Ishmael Kazenaghi
North Antarctica walked out to a great noise by their rowdy home fans as they took to the field to face Athlon in their CiboTap opener. And they started on the front foot, with William Maynard and Andrew Young both testing Athlon keeper Theodoros Nikolas in the opening five minutes of the match. The visitors couldn't get a grip hold in the match, and found themselves trailing early on after a nice exchange between Maynard and Young played in Ishmael Kazenaghi, with the veteran striker slotting the ball beyond Nikolas to give the host nation the advantage. The hosts continued to force the question, but Nikolas pulled off a string of high quality saves to keep Athlon in the game, before Maxwell Stoner blasted a header over the crossbar as the score remained the same going into halftime.
The second half began with Athlon on top, and Stoner was again unlucky not to have found an equaliser, but another header was saved brilliantly by Quentin Markhams. However, the hosts were able to sure up their defence, and by the end of the game, they were once again looking more likely to score, with Andrew Young snatching at a cross first time to blaze over the bar, when he had the time and the space in the box to take a touch. Kazenaghi repeated Stoner's trick of flashing a header over the crossbar whilst sub Jonathan Fiorentino hit the post from a free-kick, but they couldn't extend the scoreline.
Group BCalbion 1-1 Natopia
35' Llewelyn Wyn-Jones
74' Elijah Karoly
63' OFF Edward Faletau - Professional foul
Calbion and Natopia began their CiboTap campaigns in a very ill tempered game. The opening exchanges provided little in the way of entertainment, except for a Cedric Alexander chance the flashed the wrong side of the post for the Natopians, but the deadlock was broken with ten minutes of the second half remaining, when Llewelyn Wyn-Jones headed home from a corner kick to put Calbion in front.
If the second half had been a bore, the second was anything but as the Natopians went hell for leather trying to find an equaliser. Ilyas Chowdhury missed from close range before Jimmy Cole's cross-come-shot forced Lordi Pistepirkko to tip over as the ball headed for the top corner. But the game really came alive midway through the second half when Edward Faletau's late challenge on George Valéry Saint-François Xavier in the box saw the Calbion defender shown a straight red card, though the referee didn't show anyone else a card in the ensuing melee. However, Cedric Alexander's resulting penalty was saved by Aluc Jones, much to the relief of the Calbion fans. The game started to open up, but the fouling then came into play, as both sides made a series of questionable over-the-top challenges, which the referee took a very lenient view of. But with both teams incensed, Natopia landed an equalised, as Chowdhury rode several challenges on his way into the penalty area, before playing in Xavier, whose shot was spilled by the keeper into the path of Elijah Karoly, who smashed the ball into the bottom left corner. The game continued to see a variety of bad challenges plague it, but neither side could find a winner, as they ended up sharing the spoils of the match.
Birgeshir 0-0 Vyktory
Birgeshir and Vyktory shared the spoils in a surprisingly uneventful CiboTap opener, Birgeshir came closest with chances from new Cook Island FC signing Çengiz Tahir and Ra-to-men Mahırojk coming closest, but despite a late Kevin Arland shot hitting the woodwork, Vyktory's seemingly defensive tactics ensure they could hold on for a point in their opener.
North Antarctic Domain 1-0 Passio-Corum
24' Kevin Razak-Price
A first half goal by Imperial New Kirrie's Kevin Razak-Price gave the North Antarctic Domain a shock winner in their CiboTap opener over Passio-Corum. Razak-Price found himself free on the edge of the box midway through the first period, and despite hitting a relatively tame effort on goal, Joa Oo seemingly let the ball slip through his fingers as NAD took a surprise lead. Passio-Corum came back hitting in the second half, with Bo Aapoo and Gata Ev both testing the goalkeeper before Pass Voa struck the crossbar with a long distance effort, but NAD held on for an unlikely opening day victory.

GROUP A
GROUP A
North Antarctica 0-1 Natopia
28' Ilyas Chowdhury
A first half strike from Ilyas Chowdhury gave Natopia their first win of the competition against the host nation. After a tense opening 25 minutes, Chowdhury made space for himself in the box before striking the ball into the roof of the net as the North Antarctic defence switched off. The Napians grew back into the game but a series of missed half-chances and some goalkeeping heroics from Lordi Pistepirkko ensured Natopia came away with the win.
GROUP BAthlon 1-2 Calbion
13' Jeff Wood
51' Liam Morgan
87' Vikos Paraperoglou
Athlon were eliminated after slumping to defeat against Calbion, despite trying to mount a late comeback. Calbion were firmly in control from the get-go, and Jeff Wood headed home from an early corner to give 2016's third-place finishers the lead. Wyn-Jones had several chances to double their lead but that honour was eventually bestowed to midfielder Liam Morgan, who reacted fast to a loose ball in the box from a corner, striking the ball with his left foot into the bottom left corner minutes after the restart. Substitute Vikos Paraperoglou pulled a goal back late on from another corner as he rose highest in the box to flick the ball in at the near post, but unfortunately for Athlon it was too little too late as they are now eliminated from the competition with a game to spare.
Vyktory 0-0 Passio-Corum
Vyktory dominated in their second group match but once against failed to take their chances against a resolute Passio-Corum defence in what was a bit of a role reversal from their last game. Kevin Arland came the closest to breaking the deadlock with a volley from the edge of the box but Joa Oo made up for his mistake in the last match by tipping the ball over the bar as it headed for the top left corner. As a result of this game, both sides will need a win in their final game to keep any chance of qualifying alive.
Birgeshir 3-0 North Antarctic Domain
20' Ra-to-men Mahırojk
41' Zet Khayakojk
63' Nofre-Ka-U Pabasojk
Birgeshir got their first win of the campaign by thumping the opening day's surprise package North Antarctic Domain 3-0. Ra-to-men Mahırojk got the scoring started early on with a neat finish at the near post past an onrushing goalkeeper before midfielder Zet Khayakojk blasted a contender for goal of the tournament home with a lovely powerful curved finish from the edge of the box into the top right corner. Substitute Nofre-Ka-U Pabasojk rounded off the win mid-way through the second half with a header from a corner kick. The win puts Birgeshir in pole position for the group going into the final round of fixtures, whilst NAD know a win against Vyktory would put them in the semi-finals.

GROUP A
GROUP A
Calbion 0-2 North Antarctica
61' Andrew Young
88' Jonathan Gonzales
North Antarctica won a frantic and dramatic game of football against Calbion that ensured their passage to the semi-finals of the CiboTap. After a tense first half, Calbion almost took the lead in the early stages of the second, but Jeff Wood blazes a guilt edged chance over the crossbar before Owen Baine got the ball stuck under his feet and failed to pull off a shot with an open goal gaping, allowing the North Antarctican defence to get back and smother the danger. The hosts though were clinical, and on the half hour mark, a long searching ball from Jonathan Gonzales played in Andrew Young behind Calbion's high line, allowing Young to run in, round the keeper, and slot in to put his side 1-0 up. Calbion desperately pushed for an equaliser, but as they poured more men further forward, that left the space for Young to run into again, and with two minutes left he crossed in for Gonzales to head home in a role reversal of the first goal to seal North Antarctica's progression to the semi-finals.
GROUP BNatopia 3-2 Athlon
6' Maxwell Stoner
25' Cedric Alexander (pen.)
70' Maximillian Rodriguez
74' Ivan Lekkas
89' Joshua Murphy-Lee
23' OFF Dubaku Prokopios
Natopia progressed through as group champions but only after being given a massive scare by already eliminated 10-man Athlon. The Natopians had a terrible start when Joshua Murphy-Lee was caught in possession and Kealb's Maxwell Stoner heald him off to slot past the keeper at the near post to give Athlon a shock lead. However, Natopia levelled within twenty minutes after Dubaku Prokopios saw a straight red card after he stopped a goalbound Ilyas Chowdhury header with his hand, before Cedric Alexander buried the resulting penalty into the top right corner. It took until the latter stages of the match though for Natopia to take the lead, as substitute Maximilian Rodriguez made the most of tiring Athlon legs to run through and beat the goalkeeper. However Athlon drew back level moments later when Ivan Lekkas headed home from a corner. The game seemed to be heading for a corner, but Natopia, eager to avoid finishing second in the group, grabbed the winner late on, as Joshua Murphy-Lee came up for a late corner and headed to give Natopia the group crown.
North Antarctic Domain 0-1 Vyktory
90'+3' Kevin Stokes
Vyktory progressed through to the knock-out stages of the CiboTap in the most remarkable of circumstances after their goalkeeper scored with the very last kick of the match as they beat the North Antarctic Domain. Vyktory dominated the tie but with some heroic NAD defending, Vyktory, who had drawn their two opening matches 0-0, seemed to be heading to a third and subsequently out, until a last minute corner was won, and the goalkeeper Kevin Stokes came up. The ball was whipped in by Zack Morris, headed down by Kevin Arland, and came through a crowd of players to Stokes, who volleyed it into the roof of the net to send the players and fans of Vyktory into an absolute frenzy, as they seal a game against Natopia in the semi-final.
Passio-Corum 0-2 Birgeshir
11' Bebi Bælhara
67' Kanebti Seltekojk
Birgeshir took the Group B title following a comfortable win over Passio-Corum. Bebi Bælhara headed home from a corner to give his side the lead early on, with a second half volley from substitute Kanebti Seltekojk effectively sealing the win midway through the second. Passio-Corum never really looked to threaten as Birgeshir ended up taking a few of their big names off towards the end of the match as the holders secured their spot in the semi-finals.

Re: CiboTap 2018
SEMI-FINALS
Having scored one goal (via their goalkeeper) and conceding none, Vyktory appeared to be heading for a similar fate again in what was a tightly fought game until the hour mark, when a penalty was blown up for at a corner kick. Cedric Alexander's penalty hit the post, but bounced across, hit the back leg of the goalkeeper, and went in as Natopia took the lead in bizarre circumstances. Vyktory took just 14 minutes to respond, when Kevin Arland made space for himself in the box, smashing the ball low across the keeper to level. The game went into extra time, but Vyktory were finally able to show their edge in the match, as Jim Templar beat the offside trap to slot confidently past the goal keeper in the first period before Kevin Arland became the first player at the tournament to get a second goal in the tournament with a header from a corner, as the Natopian defence fell asleep. Elijah Karoly pulled back a consolation late on but it wasn't enough to prevent Vyktory from winning the match.Spoiler!
Birgeshir started off lively with Tëvrat Çıkthan hitting the post in the first ten minutes twice, before bagged the opener with a free header from a corner. North Antarctica had chances to equalise, but their strikers seemingly left their shooting boots at home as they failed to convert 4 clear cut first half chances. Andrew Young had the pick of the chances, forcing a strong save from Iu-Senb Ercanojk with a 20-yard half volley. Birgeshir though shore up in the second half and looked more likely to score a second, and Tahir was unlucky not to double his advantage with a close range effort that was tipped over the bar by Quentin Markhams with a terrific reaction save. However, neither team could find another goal, which gives the holders the opportunity to defend their title on Saturday.Spoiler!

Re: CiboTap 2018
THIRD PLACE PLAY-OFF
FINALThe hosts started the brighter team and took the lead midway through the first half with a towering William Maynard header as Natopia failed to clear their lines from a wide free-kick. However before the break, Elijah Karoly nabbed an equaliser after North Antarctica failed to clear in the penalty area, with Karoly being able to stretch to meet a loose ball and divert it goalwards. The second period though saw the hosts take control, with Jonathan Gonzales first striking a wicked free kick into the top right corner before a quick Napian counter attack was finished off by Maynard for his second of the game as North Antarctica ran out as the victors to restore pride on their home soil.Spoiler!
The Cibo Tap final of 2018 pitted Vyktory up against reigning champions Birgeshir. Vyktory had taken a while to grow into the tournament, whilst Birgeshir had seemingly strolled through without conceding a single goal in their campaign. Their shared group game had ended goalless, so many spectators were expecting a tight fixture.Spoiler!
And so often with finals, it proved, though not for the lack of trying, as both created opportunities. Kevin Arland's curling effort narrowly went wide early on whilst Jim Templar was backpeddling when he headed goalwards, with his effort looping over the goal. Tëvrat Çıkthan's effort was saved by Vyktory hero Kevin Stokes on the stroke of half-time, whilst in the second Arland had another shot which this time required an acrobatic save by the Birgesh goalie. The game settled though, and after 90 minutes there was still nothing to separate the teams.
In extra time, the nerves were starting to hit, and both teams failed to create chances, which saw the game go to penalties. With nerves at the ready, both teams lined up on the halfway line for the shoot-out.
Kevin Arland went first for Vyktory, smashing his effort into the top left hand corner, before Tëvrat Çıkthan sent Stokes the wrong way. Templar then chipped the ball down the middle, outfoxing the goalkeeper, before Çengiz Tahir sent his kick into the bottom right. This however was when the nerves hit, as Jordan Blythe hit his penalty over the crossbar. Ra-to-men Mahırojk made no mistake however, and despite Stokes getting a touch to it, it wasn't enough to prevent the ball from hitting the back of the net. Up stepped sub Ian Gordon, but his penalty was saved by the goalkeeper, meaning that if Zet Khayakojk scored, Birgeshir would win. And he did, calmly sending the keeper the wrong way with a tidy finish into the bottom left, which sent the Birgeshir fans wild.
