Nova English Korea vs. Birgeshir friendly (22/06)
*Played 22nd June*
Nova English Korea 0-3 Birgeshir
55' - S. Lahar
84' - S. Lahar
90' - S. Lahar
Sarapou Lahar's second-half hat-trick marked his first ever tournament call-up as Birgeshir continued their unbeaten run. A close first 45 minutes concluded with neither side registering a shot on target, but the World Cup hosts found another gear after half time, with Lahar's man-of-the-match performance the difference maker. A powerful effort from just inside the area shortly after the restart swung the momentum, but a further late pair of impressive finishes really emphasised the victory. Lahar's second found the net from a similar area as his first, but his swept finish was preceded by some quality footwork which took him past two defenders, while his hat-trick came in injury time with a calmly-controlled chest from a Bælhara pass in the box being finished with a pass into the bottom-right.
The Birgesh players' final warm-up match comes against World Cup débutants Freeland next Saturday, 13 days before they kick the tournament off against Talenore in the opening game.
